Manager, Government Relations
Reporting to the General Manager, Government, Industry and International Affairs, you will represent CBA to government and provide strategic internal advice to senior management in relation to government policy and regulatory issues. In addition, you will develop accurate and timely responses in relation to relevant policy matters impacting the bank and the broader financial services sector.
You will be responsible for the following -
- Analyse Federal Government economic and fiscal policy developments with the potential to impact CBA's operations and reputation and proactively identify potential and actual business risks;
- Provide strategic counsel to senior internal stakeholders concerning issues of significance to the Group emanating from Treasury, other government policy with important economic impacts and other matters of industry significance
- Establish appropriate feedback mechanisms to ensure the continuous improvement of CBA's government relations and policy programs and tools.
To be considered for this challenging role, you will come with -
- Demonstrated experience in a similar leadership role within a listed, issues rich and highly regulated environment managing government relations and policy issues within Australia and/or globally
- Strong understanding of the machinery of government, including direct experience liaising at senior Departmental and Ministerial level
- Well established networks and reputation with both sides of State and Federal Government;
- Strong experience and understanding of economic and fiscal policy issues
- Experience in the day-to-day management of government relations and policy issues including the provision of timely advice and the preparation of accurate responses within deadlines
- Appreciation and understanding of internal political issues within large national organisations and a proven ability to build relationships and get the best out of people at all levels
- High-level conceptual and analytical skills, evident business acumen and exceptional verbal and written communication capability;
To round out your experience, you will come with tertiary qualifications in business, policy, commerce, communications or a related discipline or significant experience of parity.
