Position Overview

The Senior Manager Enterprise Business Intelligence Systems will manage full life cycle functional and application aspects and deliverables for implementations upgrades assessments and integration projects. Provide senior management level interpersonal customer interaction manage stakeholder expectations and perform the duties and responsibilities to meet deliverables and milestones for projects under their management responsibility. Provide experience with Business Intelligence capabilities to help customers address their complex business intelligence and data analytics challenges - from enterprise value maximization and business case development to program management and system configuration. Produce deliverables such as defining BI systems strategy developing BI systems requirements designing and prototyping development system testing training defining support procedures and practical BI solutions under multiple deadlines.

  • Manages and motivates a team(s) of Data Business Intelligence functional and technical staff and consultants.
  • Manages risks and issues to minimize impact on project delivery timelines.
  • Manages the tasks and deliverables of various projects enhancements.
  • Manages and maintains relationships with key internal customers including the establishment and management of Business Intelligence Steering Committee (BISC) and Business Intelligence Competency Centers (BICC) for our Front and Back-Office BI teams.
  • Manages business expectations in relationship to timeline deliverables.
  • Accurately plans and manages the end to end delivery of Data BI related projects (enhancements rollouts upgrades).
  • Ensures production of timely and high quality deliverables pertaining to BI applications.
  • Monitors project progress and status conducts regular project reviews and provides regular project status reports.
  • Play a significant role in the shaping of strategy as we sunset legacy BI systems and move to more strategic platforms.
  • Develop and work with internal business customers to foster and grow Business Intelligence Self-Service Reporting and data analytic capabilities.
  • The role requires an individual who has strong DW/BI development expertise and significant experience in managing technical DW/BI teams.

    Key areas of focus include:

  • Enterprise Business Intelligence strategy and full SDLC with focus on providing self-service reporting solutions functional dashboards corporate KPIs and ad-hoc data analytics/mining solutions in an Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) and Hyperion CPM/ Essbase environment.
  • Data Integration and SOA based EDI solutions to ensure high data quality and reliable data interfaces with internal and external systems and partners.

    DW/BI Functional Leadership: Provides technical leadership and direction for the Business Intelligence environment including solution analysis design implementation integration and general system maintenance. Ensure that the BI best practices are followed. Advise the business on alternative solutions to ensure that the BI program goals are accomplished in line with the business objectives. Works closely with Internal Audit to ensure that the process and controls are defined and executed to achieve our SOX 404 and 302 compliance goals. Monitors and leads current year compliance efforts. Evaluates and implements automated solutions for SOX control compliancy; makes SOX 404 part of the operating environment not adjunct manual processes and controls.
    Fiscal Responsibility: Develop and manage to budget; actively review and forecast financial impact of organization against the budget. Must actively manage suppliers of hardware software and services. Actively negotiate/renegotiate contracts to ensure that we achieve *most favored nation* terms and conditions and make informed buying decisions. Leverage industry trends and solutions that will help achieve best in class cost leadership. Exploit synergies across the organization and persuades others to implement new ideas to the benefit of the business. Drives for industry leading IT Expense to Revenue ratios.

Keeps momentum going over time despite setbacks showing resilience in the face of challenges while looking for ways to beat previous standards. Evaluate risks benefits and technical implications of various options/solutions within ones field.
    Customer Alignment Communication: Develop a close partnering with internal customers such that the solutions anticipate their needs. Manage conflicting strategic priorities and multiple opportunities to find the best way of creating long term portfolio success. Coordinate with customers setting the appropriate expectations and delivering against those expectations. Establish and maintain open communication with key customers.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Finance or equivalent experience required.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • High Tech industry experience required.
  • Wireless industry experience preferred

    Job Experience
    Required

  • 8-10+ years experience in database software and information systems engineering.
  • 8-10 + years experience in Data Management environments which includes proven management experience in Data Management implementation projects with experience of working with on and off-shore resources.
  • At least 5 years of BI experience with emphasis on data interfaces and BI/reporting in an Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) and Hyperion CPM/Essbase environment preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience. Must have ability to manage professional software engineers.
  • 5-7 years software project management including planning scheduling and tracking.
  • 5-7 software Re-Engineering.
  • 5 years experience working to establish standards; ISO SOX experience in Service Oriented Architecture.
  • Technical writing/documentation skills including data structures application codes user manuals etc.
  • Expert organizational communication and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with managerial administrative and technical staff to determine information needs process/data flows and systems definitions
  • Candidate must be comfortable working as part of a development team to accomplish overall plan objectives. Candidate must exhibit strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Candidate must interface effectively other managers as well as developers and analysts to coordinate technical activities platforms and solutions.
  • Proven experience of managing high profile and complex projects with cross functional teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of project methodologies and tools.
  • Result s oriented with proven record of project delivery.
  • A proven functional/technical professional with BI lifecycle implementation experience.
    Preferred
  • 12 years IT leadership spanning many different roles. Must have senior leadership in Appl Dev and BI support.
