Manager, Institutional CPMS Sales recruitment

The Role: Morningstar Canada is looking for a senior Institutional Sales Manager to join our Sales and Marketing team. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and highly effective communicator with excellent consultative sales skills to lead the CPMS institutional sales team as Sales Manager. This role will oversee the sales and service of world-class service to subscribers and prospective customers of CPMS including asset managers, pension funds, investment consultants, brokerage firms and investment advisors.
Responsibilities:
- This role is responsible for leading a sales team of senior institutional sales consultants. Driving sales results through people leadership is a core requirement of the role.
- Ensure sales and revenue goals are met or exceeded for all Morningstar CPMS offerings
- Recruit, hire and train the sales team and ensure maximum levels of performance
- Develop and manage annual territory plans and account assignments across the sales team, including growth strategies that ensure achievement of sales and revenue goals
- Develop organizational strategies and manage employee performance, training and development
- Actively involved in conferences, exhibitions and user forums with clients and potential clients
- Work closely with senior management to ensure team is aligned with business vision and integrated with the larger organizational vision
- Manage sales reports, budgets and forecasting activities on an ongoing basis
- Participate in client meetings
- Learn how to effectively use and demonstrate the CPMS Software
- Leverage their in-depth knowledge of quantitative analysis techniques and tools used in the equity market to facilitate sales growth initiatives
- Participate in developing regular market review and analysis reports for clients
- Develop key relationships with clients and prospects through proactively uncovering their business needs and challenges and presenting recommendations on how our solution offerings fit into their overall goal and strategies
- Demonstrate attitude of teamwork and relationship building within, and outside the company
Desired Skills Experience
Requirements
- At least 5+ years of customer-facing experience at senior levels within the financial marketplace, including selling software, online and technology solutions. Note: only applicants with solid financial services or investment experience will be considered
- At least 5+ years of demonstrated hands-on management/leadership experience within financial services industries
- Outstanding relationship building, communication and negotiation skills
- A university degree in a related field. A CFA or other related industry designation is strongly preferred
- A passionate interest for the financial industry
- A proven track record of B2B sales success
- Experience in sales of Institutional Software, Institutional Investment Consulting, and/or Asset Manager Services
- Experience in investment research, analytics and/or portfolio management would be an asset for this role
- Ability to plan sales-specific strategies and execute on them
- Ability to work closely with Product Management and Marketing teams
