Manager Investment Administration recruitment
Role
To ensure that the work of the Investment Administration department is efficiently completed by motivated staff, without risk to the company, and to the satisfaction of both internal and external clients
Responsibilities
Oversight and Control of the allocated operational teams
- Oversight and control of all derivative processing and position management.
- Oversight and control of all new and emerging market investigation and regular reviews
- Oversight and control of Quasar pricing and security set-up processes
- Oversight and control of all pre and post settlement issues
Risk Management (procedures, controls and compliance)
- Understand and comply with all requirements of regulatory regimes, corporate policies and procedures
- Demonstrably control all work in progress. Provide effective escalation point
- Identify and use Key Risk Indicators (measurable characteristic of a business process) and coordinate appropriate and regular management reporting
- Track, report and resolve errors and exceptions following in house risk control procedures
- Maintain comprehensive procedure documents for all areas of work
- Incorporate regular review and update
- Effectively prioritise using market knowledge, understanding of client base and use of KRIs
Team management and staff effectiveness, motivation and competence
- Organisation of team responsibilities, team meetings, training, appraisals and recruitment
- Operate department in a performance management environment, including bi-annual appraisals, team building, staff development and recruitment
- Provide coaching and training to direct reports as appropriate, in order to meet individual training and development requirements
- Ensure training plans are in place for all new recruits
Ownership of allocated system vendor relationships
- Provide an escalation point
- Chair service reviews ensuring that all meetings are fully documented and allocate actions progressed
- Represent operations management on new system implementations and upgrades

Person specification
• Manager attributes. Previous experience within the financial industry in a management position
• Previous experience of derivatives processes and related position management covering both Exchange Traded and Over the Counter products
• Previous experience of investment markets including new market investigation techniques, settlement processes and operational/settlement risks
• An understanding of settlement issues and the related risks
• Strong technical skills, across a wide range of markets and instrument types, coupled with a good understanding of all operational areas
• Excellent attention to detail skills. Ability to identify all issues, or potential issues, and to complete all work to a high standard and within appropriate deadlines
• Excellent communication skills
• The role will involve liaison with many other departments within the company, including senior management
• There will also be extensive communication with other company’s offices, custodians and brokers
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential
• A pro-active outlook and a desire to learn and to take on responsibility
