GENERAL SUMMARY:
Laureate's business growth is driving ambitious plans for renovations and expansions of IT infrastructure, applications and system integration technologies worldwide. The company growth strategy is based in organic and acquisition growth which requires effective and prompt evaluation and integration of new businesses. This role helps to understand, analyze and coordinate the execution of projects in international locations. This IT leader will function as an integral member of Laureate Network Products and Services (LNPS), a division in charge of deploying value added services to a university network composed of 60+ institutions in 30+ countries. He/she will report directly to the Executive Director, LNPS. The Technology Manager will also work closely and collaboratively with the team reporting into the Corporate Technology and Laureate Global Products and Services (LGPS) Technology departments.
The Technology Manager is responsible for analyzing and coordinating IT activities for the business unit/LNPS. Participates in overall business technology planning and understands the enterprise's core IT competencies and the value they bring to business processes for a competitive advantage. This role will leverage the enterprise's core technology capabilities and platforms for the benefit of the business unit acting as a liaison between the BU's management team and the central IT Organization. Will work with the BU's management team to determine long term information needs for the unit and participates in the development of an enterprise-wide strategy for systems development and infrastructure acquisition and deployment. This IT leadership role will be responsible for the analysis, and documentation of technology related requirements. In this capacity, the Technology Manager is responsible for identifying business need, scoping and documenting technology work, communicating with management team, customers and development team, and assisting with the management of these projects from inception through completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This person will be responsible for ensuring all LNPS applications run at the adequate service levels in support of the BU service delivery plan. He /she is also responsible for maintaining consistency between all IT resources assigned to the business unit and will coordinate their activities to ensure they meet the goals of the business unit.
- Manage a Development Team to deliver products adjusted to the identified requirements.
- Determines long term IT needs for the unit and participates in the development of a strategy for systems development and infrastructure acquisition and deployment.
- Understand the business unit operations, how teams interact with enterprise systems, and their issues and data challenges
- Identify high-level conceptual improvements to technology challenges; push creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices and client mindsets
- Acts as a business relationship manager responsible for the collections analysis and review and communication of business needs and requirements. Leads the gathering of business needs as well as the design of solution through direct interaction with business unit leaders.
- Responsible for translating customer's business needs into functional and actionable specifications that can be relayed to the appropriate technical development team member. Must have the proven ability to translate business needs into the overall business plan and 'bigger picture'.
- Develop functional specifications and have the ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Lead the solution architecture, vendor selection, and posterior implementation and customization of solutions or development of internal solutions.
- Controls the Quality Assurance to test requirements; work with client to identify required changes; communicate needed changes to development team.
- Interacts with external and internal customers to the BU to ensure continuous customer satisfaction.
- Communicate status of all active projects; assist with quantifying the cost and value of business application technology products.
Individual will serve as a liaison to the LGPS and Corporate technology offices.

- A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive information technology experience in a collaborative IT service focused environment.
- A solid background of experience and an impressive record of innovation and attainment of goals in complex organizations, especially in a global enterprise environment and matrix organizations.
- Fluency in English and Spanish required.
- Previous international experience is required and well as the ability to travel extensively.
- Strong change management and leadership skills, and the ability to apply them to implement new systems and redesign work, are required.
- Experience in directing and managing within a dynamic and challenging environment, working inclusively through people to achieve shared objectives.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written with the proven ability to translate technical needs into business requirements.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
An undergraduate degree, ideally in computer science, engineering or mathematics is required. A graduate degree, while not required, is helpful.
