Responsible for the development and implementation of highly integrated information systems.

Responsible for all information systems operations activities, including computer operations, data entry, data control, operations support, and operating systems programming. Controls revenues and expenses within department and responsible for meeting budget goals and objectives. Provides input to policy level direction regarding standards and budget constraints. Makes decisions on personnel actions including hiring, terminations, and promotions. Assigns personnel to projects and directs their activities. Reviews and evaluates work and prepares performance reports. Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities, and methods. Consults with personnel in other information systems sections to coordinate activities. Prepares activity and progress reports regarding information systems operations.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. A minimum of career level experience in systems administration, typically at least 8 years relevant experience.

Must be able to provide overall direction to the development and maintenance of assigned systems. Able to develop and meet budget and schedule objectives. Has full technical knowledge of systems administration. Requires extensive knowledge of a wide range of scripting languages. Must be able to resolve complex problems with systems functionality. Requires excellent written and verbal communication. Must be able to provide direction to assigned team members.

Job Requirements:

The primary responsibility for this position is to provide technical and people leadership to IT infrastructure engineering staff and contribute to the development of the IT infrastructure roadmap specific to computing (Servers and End User platforms (PCs, iDevices), SAN storage, Active Directory and DNS structure across the company.  Additional primary responsibilities will be to lead the e-mail messaging strategy for LII, establish, maintain and revise equipment (i.e. Dell, IBM, Apple) and operating system standards (i.e. Windows 7 or SUSE Linux images). The leader will be expected to apply capacity planning best practices in order to maintain optimal computing performance and will be responsible for managing server lease refresh cycles.  The candidate should have the following key attributes: positive attitude who demonstrates a “glass half full vs. glass half empty” mentality, integrity and trust, customer first mentality, good team dynamics, gets results through collaboration and one who focuses on developing others. The candidate will be expected to have updated knowledge on emerging technologies and serve as a technical visionary leader for the team.  In doing this, the candidate must have an extensive computing background (e.g. wide range of computing architectures and platforms both on-premise and cloud based) and have the ability to interface with business relationship managers, IT project managers and senior level business customers. The candidate must have outstanding people leadership and mentoring skills for the Computing Engineering and Operations teams. Additional responsibilities will include managing corporate initiatives and fulfilling business projects that require computing and storage resources, developing best practice engineering processes and procedures, and defining key performance indicators and metrics for the infrastructure engineering team. This position will be responsible for making a significant contribution to corporate Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Planning. This position will also be a mentor, collaborator, provide training on proactive, corrective and analytical processes, and technical leadership to technical staff.

This job has direct supervisory responsibilities. The team is approximately 7 technical engineers and analysts.

·   Demonstrated progressive experience in managing a technical corporate engineering team

·   Experience working within a manufacturing company, in solutions engineering position is desired

·   Extensive knowledge of computing, storage, Microsoft, Google, EMC, Hitachi, Windows, SUSE Linux environment with ability for contract negotiations and developing business cases for review.

·   Must have prepared and managed RFP’s for large organizations

 

EXPERIENCE

 

1.     10+ years computing, storage, messaging and infrastructure experience and leading cross functional teams designing, implementing and managing solutions or developing IT infrastructure strategies and roadmaps.

2.     10+ years recent experience in infrastructure engineering department

  1. Extensive experience in Budgeting, Business Continuity, Customer Relationship Management, Contract Negotiations, Project Management, Profit Loss, Request for Proposal’s, ROI’s, Service Delivery, Strategic Planning, Team Management, Road Maps and Vendor Management.
