Manager, Load Planning Job in Chicago 60601, Illinois US
- Develop, implement and manage an efficient and effective freight planning/execution process which ensures consistency across divisions and carriers, while maximizing freight revenue and reducing transportation costs.
- Develop, implement and maintain SOP's for load planning/execution operations within Alliant Logistics/USF.
- Manage load planning activities, maximizing equipment efficiency and utilization, while reducing expenditure through careful planning and analysis.
- Manage efforts to establish delivery time lines with vendors and carriers, in alignment with the expectations of USF divisions.
- Lead the initiative of developing innovative solutions for the conversion of vendor managed freight to USF managed freight, achieving optimal revenue and generating freight income opportunties for USF divisions.
- Serve as subject matter expert in the areas of logistics planning and execution.
Education/Training: 4 year degree in related field or equivalent years of experience required.
Related Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in transportation, logistics, purchasing, operations or similiar in a large, multi-state environment. Minimum 3 years prior experience supervising subordinates required. Must have prior experience in managing budgets, working within balance sheets and other relevant financial metrics. Prior experience in strategic project management and vendor negotiations required. Experience in 3rd party customer freight development with the utilization of a private fleet for reduction of empty miles a plus.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated experience running a high volume transaction processing or transportation operation within a TMS system with multiple divisions. Knowledge of foodservice distribution highly preferred. Must be highly adaptive, able to function effectively within a fast paced environment. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, Word required. Knowledge of Microsoft Access preferred.
