This position is responsible for managing daily activities of the Material Planning and Purchasing dept. to ensure branches and DCs product replenishment requirements are met while managing inventory levels to be in line with corporate targets. This position requires on-going collaboration with DCs and branches to drive customer service improvements. The Materials Planning Manager will work closely with Management team to identify and implement various process improvement projects.
- Manages Planning and Purchasing coordinator’s activities to achieve established inventory targets while improving service levels
- Collaborates with management team to develop strategy to reduce excess inventory across the DC and branch networks
- On-going collaboration with DCs and branches to identify process and customer service improvement opportunities
- Implements measures to improve customer service related to inventory availability, decreased stock out rates, improved asset utilization and improved efficiencies throughout the supply chain.
- On-going Identification of opportunities to optimize inventory replenishment parameters
- Takes an active role in managing new product roll out, ECM compliance, excess and obsolete inventory phase out planning and SKU rationalization strategies.
- Actively collaborates with staff and management to identify process improvement opportunities
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, performance, and disciplining of subordinate staff.
- Enforces established company and regulatory standards, policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
- Bachelor degree is required preferable in a Business or Supply Chain related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years management experience in fast paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to execute tactically while developing and implementing strategic initiatives
- Deep knowledge of inventory management and planning, and expert-level ERP systems experience
- Clear demonstration of strong leadership skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
- Strong knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma strongly desired
- APICS certification a plus
