The role will focus on the handling of contentious situations, although the successful candidate will also participate more widely in the team's and the wider department's activities. There will be opportunities to work alongside colleagues from all the firm's four service lines.
Key Responsibilities:
The Manager role is within the National Risk Advisory (NRA) team in National Quality Risk Management (NQRM). The manager will be joining a team of 12 people in NRA, who sit in the NQRM department. NQRM comprises 80+ dedicated quality risk professionals, based in London, with expertise across the quality risk management spectrum of the firm. NQRM is responsible for the oversight of the firm's ethics, compliance and quality risk management processes. Working side by side with Service Line Quality Risk teams and Quality Risk Operations, we partner with and enable the business by providing practical advice and support across the firm to help empower our people to manage quality risk effectively.
The NRA team is one of the teams within NQRM. NRA's remit is very wide but broadly encompasses advising on complex risk management issues, development of risk management strategies and policies for the firm, provision of risk management precedent documentation and advice, and training and educational tools and materials for the firm's practitioners, and the handling of contentious situations to which the firms is exposed, including claims against the firm and regulatory investigations into the firm's conduct.
Claims and regulatory investigations
The role will involve working with the partner and team responsible for the management of and response to:
- Claims made or threatened against the firm;
- Regulatory investigations and actions into the conduct of the firm and our partners and staff;
- Requests for evidence (oral and documentary) in connection with litigation, regulatory and other investigations and prosecutions to which the firm and our partners and staff are not a party but are potential witnesses or sources of information; and
- Any other contentious situation in which the firm and our partners and staff are or may become involved, in all cases, regardless out of which service line the matter arises.
- The role involves supporting and dealing with people at all levels of the firm (including a significant degree of contact with the partner group) across all service lines, working closely with all service line quality and risk management teams, as well as a significant degree of contact with external lawyers, advisers, other parties, regulators and so on.
- Qualified litigation solicitor.
- Experience of professional negligence claims and/or regulatory investigations and action is desirable, but not essential.
