The Manager of Business Development we seek will be responsible for business-to-business commercial card sales within a specific territory. Generating top line growth for corporate card and corporate purchasing solutions prospects. The Global Corporate Payments sales organization specifically targets accounts / prospects in the large market. You will drive results for the entire sales cycle including building and developing senior-level client contracts, setting the sales strategy and negotiating with the client for profitable new, cross sell and expansion business. Your success is measured by achieving sales targets and by demonstrating strong leadership skills. Business Development consultants will deliver a minimum of 100% target / quota, while developing a pipeline of prospects. You must complete Commercial Card certification program. Sales territory covers D.C. / Northern Virginia. Candidate needs to reside in their territory. American Express is an equal opportunity employer. The successful candidate will have the following skills: a proven success in a high-level, consultative sales position is required. A minimum of 3 years outside sales experience in any of the following areas (important, but not required): corporate card, corporate purchasing card, commercial card or corporate payment systems and e-commerce. Experience in moving a prospect through all sales cycles: from generating leads through aggressive cold calling, fostering the relationship, uncovering the needs, delivering the value, closing the business, negotiating pricing / contract and implementing a successful program. The candidate must be focused and competitive with a strong drive to over-achieve. Excellent time management and organizational skills are a must. Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to analyze and solve problems. The candidate will possess strong presentation skills to effectively represent the corporate card and corporate purchasing solutions to prospective customers. Sales territory covers D.C. / Northern Virginia. Candidate needs to reside in their territory. A motor vehicle records check will be conducted for all successful candidates at the time of offer. Disclosure of all moving violations within the last 3 years (including, but not limited to: speeding tickets, refusal to submit to BAC (Blood Alcohol Content), reckless driving, leaving scene of accident, and drivers license suspension for moving violations) is required during the application process.
