Job Description Davis Langdon, An AECOM Company, is seeking an experienced and motivated Manager of Cost Estimating / Senior Estimator to lead our existing cost estimating team within the Santa Monica office. This is a dynamic position where the candidate is responsible for ensuring that the cost estimating services are provided to the highest level of quality with the work being completed accurately, profitably and on-time, while managing and building client relationships. This full-time position will be based in Santa Monica, California, reporting to the office leader. The role will include the following as responsibilities: * Manage and lead a team of estimators/cost consultants * Working with senior leadership to help develop and execute the business plan for the cost estimating component of the overall business. * Working with the senior leadership to identify key growth areas and strategic clients * Coordinate and cultivate strong business relationships with key Clients (Not limited to Architects, Engineers, Developers, Contractors, Public Sector entities and internal Clients within the various AECOM business units) * Supervise and manage construction estimating mandates (both in public and private sectors) to ensure quality, accuracy and timely delivery * Ability to lead estimates on both small scale projects ( $100MM) complex master-planned projects with International Clients / Architects * Assist in the management and training of the existing cost estimating / consulting staff * Provide strategic advice to clients on project feasibility, project delivery and procurement methods * Reconciliations with GC s and / or peer review estimators * Coordinate with project management, design teams and contractors * Provide design stage cost planning and value engineering * Make presentations to clients / internal as part of the project delivery * Be accountable for communication, quality control and profitability of estimating mandates * Maintain cost control procedures, preparing project cost reports and budgets * Analyze and negotiate change order requests and invoices * Supporting the local Office Leader in the business development and marketing opportunities * Some travel required * Other duties as assigned The ideal candidate will have a solid background in estimating, civil engineering, quantity surveying, construction management or architecture, with the following requirements: * 15+ years cost management / estimating experience on large-scale construction projects (public/private sector) * Knowledge of the local Southern California construction / real estate market preferred * Experience in a top tier cost consulting / engineering firm preferred * Prior position in a senior estimating role leading a team preferred * Bachelors or higher degree in a construction related discipline * Demonstrated client management, communication and organization skills * Ability to lead projects and manage resources and effectively interact with senior leadership * Ability to think strategically, plan and problem solve * Capacity to lead, motivate and manage a team with minimal supervision or direction * Ability to write complex business documents, such as reports, papers, detailed letters and emails * Attention to detail and quality * Demonstrated stability and longevity in job history * Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word * Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project and/or Primavera What We Offer AECOM employees around the world enjoy a wide range of benefits and competitive compensation package.
