Manager of Product Management

Position Overview

 

The Product Management Manager will be the unifying force behind our product strategy and prioritization of execution, combining feedback from our business sponsors, subject matter experts, customers and prospects to lead the execution on new and existing features and products. This is an important and strategic role within the company, and our expectations are equally high. The Product Management Manager will gather and prioritize product requirements, work closely with software development to continue to deliver a remarkable product, and support the dissemination of product knowledge throughout our organization. Equally important, this position includes working with our business sponsors and operations to ensure our product strategy and roadmap supports our business model and is helping to drive continued rapid growth.
The Manager of Product Management will lead a team of expert product managers and user interface designers who are responsible for creating the feature and UI specifications for our products.
Performance Objectives/Job Duties

• Help define our product strategy and vision and maintain the product Roadmap
• Successfully lead a team of Product Managers/Business Analysts and Usability Engineers
• Ability to prioritize and establish reasonable estimates for product management deliverables
• Ensure that the business sponsor and stakeholders vision and user needs are properly translated into feature and UI design specifications for the software development team
• Work with the Software Development Management team to ensure we are building the features according to design specifications
• Work as the champion, evangelist, and subject matter expert providing sufficient support for internal users to sell, train, and support the product
• Work with Management and the Director of Software Development to create standards and propose methods to improve the software development process
• Help build and maintain an interdepartmental product knowledgebase
• Contribute to the development of our future product roadmap

 

Experience and Skills:

 

• Bachelors degree is required: advanced degree preferred
• Creative and strategic thinker with good business sense
• A motivated self-starter with an excellent work ethic, strong interpersonal and collaborative skills and desire to build innovative new products
• Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities at one time
• 3 – 5 years of experience managing a Product Management team responsible for creating Software Design Specifications
• Excellent ability to bridge the communication gap between non-technical (business sponsors, training, users, etc.) and technical (software development, QA engineers, etc) teams
• Working knowledge of software analysis and design practices procedures, and software development life cycles including at least 5 - 7 years experience with software design
• Working knowledge of Payroll, HR, and Time Labor markets a plus
• Excellent effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills
• Excellent documentation preparation skills including experience in a formal software development requirements gathering / documentation process
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
• Strong process analysis and problem-solving skills
• Experience performing competitive analysis
