Manager of Sales - Pet Products

SUMMARY: The individual in this role will own and manage all Tyson Pet Products business in the pet specialty channel. This position is responsible for developing, mining and maintaining high-level relationships at top strategic accounts and managing our pet specialty broker, The Pet Firm. The Pet Firm will be responsible for handling all activities required to grow Tyson Pet Products business at our distributors and smaller retailers. Primary activities include: Establish and deliver volume and distribution goals for Tyson Pet Products; Build strong strategic relationships with top senior executives at key strategic retailers, distributors and brokers and establish Tyson as the supplier of choice; Monitor marketplace trends, Tyson programs and results and competitive intelligence to identify and react to business opportunities; Work with key internal partners (marketing, RD, operations, finance, QA, customer service) to develop and continually update key Tyson points of differentiation (product, price, package, promotion); Ensure sales presentations are sufficiently tailored to the needs of the specific customer and their consumers; Develop training, procedures and guidelines for distributor and broker organizations; Ensure forecast accuracy and proper inventory management of Tyson Pet Products; Ensure all customer service and payment issues are handled in an efficient and effective manner; Provide consolidated management reports to provide insight to the success of the Tyson Pet Products business; Ensure all Tyson policies and procedures are upheld. REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's Degree; MBA a plus Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of consumer products selling experience; pet products background required. Broker/distributor management experience is a plus; Record of excellence in sales management and leadership; Strong customer relationships across the pet industry; Extensive understanding of retailers business from procurement to in-store execution. Computer Skills: Strong skills in basic Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) required. Familiarity with consumer data programs (Nielsen, IRI) preferred. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication ability required for both internal and external communications. Travel: 20-25 trips required per year Supervisory Responsibility: None
