Manager – Operations
Corporate Operations Group (COG) provides specialist professional services, human resources, workplace infrastructure, and technology and market operations to Macquarie's businesses. The primary purpose of COG is to support and enhance the value of Macquarie through the creation of an efficient, scalable operating model. This is evident across the activities of each of the divisions which comprises of Business Improvement and Strategy Division (BIS), Business Services Division (BSD), COG Business Management, Human Resources Division (HR), Market Operations and Technology.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Physical and Trade Finance (PTF), the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for preparing and reviewing Letters of Credit issued and received on behalf of all businesses across the bank and have involvement in the key operational support elements of the Metals and Freight businesses. They will also be trained in other operational functions performed by the PTF team relating to transactions executed by the FICC Physical Businesses. The Physical Businesses at Macquarie are a growing sector and this role presents an opportunity to be part of an evolving and growing function.
As part of the Physical Trade Finance team your responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of Standby and Trade Letters of Credit.
- Recording of liabilities for issued Letters of Credit
- Recording of receipt of Letters of Credit and vetting of their wording
- Review and acceptance of Bills of Lading received.
- Verification of Dry Freight Physical Base Metals transaction details. Monitoring of incoming counterparty contracts.
- Preparation issuance of transaction contracts
- Verification of incoming Counterparty documentation to Authorised Signatory lists.
- Generation of various reconciliation processes.
- Maintenance of Letter of Credit records. Preparation of payment requests for action by Payment teams
- Preparation and remittance of Invoices and other shipping documents
- Assistance with other ad hoc operational tasks.
- Liaison with relevant internal and external parties on issues arising in the above areas
To be successful in the role you will have:
- A full understanding and significant experience of Trade Finance, ideally within the banking sector
- Strong knowledge and understanding of International Chamber of Commerce Rules and Regulations for Documentary Letters of Credit , Standby Letters of Credit, Documentary Bills for Collection and Uniform Rules for Reimbursement
- Experience in checking document presentations under Letters of Credit
- Experience in preparing and sending outward Documentary Bills for Collection and processing inward Documentary Bills for Collection
- Experience or prior exposure to Physical Commodities businesses in particular in the areas of confirmation generation, invoicing and reconciliation of trades.
- Understand the importance of controls procedures in the operations areas and lifecycle of a product
- Enjoy working in a team environment.
- A high standard of attention to detail.
- Be able to work in a methodical manner and accept accountability and ownership of tasks.
- Good organisational, communication and prioritisation skills.
- Excellent PC skills with good understanding of MS Word Excel
