Manager, Performance Reporting
The Performance Reporting Group (PRG) is tasked with providing industry-leading portfolio monitoring and evaluation services to clients worldwide. PRG provides operational support to the firm’s global consulting practice through the production of monthly and quarterly performance reports, covering long-only securities (equities, fixed income, real assets, etc.), hedge funds, and private equity investments. The department produces nearly 17,000 client-specific performance reports each year for endowed universities, high net worth private clients, and other not-for-profit institutions. C|A’s consultants use the reports as a tool to analyze asset allocation, review investment returns of various investment managers/composites, and to provide information on the investment strategy applied by each fund. The reports also assist our clients in making crucial decisions about their portfolio structures.
Position Description:
PRG is in the beginning stages of a multi-year transition, during which the group has been and will be evaluating and evolving its structure, processes, technology and products. This role, which oversees 3 to 5 PRG “teams,” consisting of approximately 20 to 40 analysts overall, will be instrumental in the successful development and execution of these important and exciting evolutionary efforts. The day-to-day responsibilities include staff management, problem solving and contributing to the preparation, production and final delivery of monthly and quarterly performance reports to consultants and clients. The team works in a collaborative environment and is responsible for all aspects of performance reporting, including data input, report generation, quality control, and data analysis and client portfolio administration. The team is focused on efficiently producing high quality products and providing superior customer service to the C|A consulting teams they support.
Principal Duties:
Group Management/Administration and Report Production:
- Supervise and direct staff activities
- Determine schedules and assignments
- Oversee the preparation, production and final delivery of performance reports to consultants and clients, including effective project management and quality control of reports as needed
- Keep peers and department head abreast of the status of the group, progress against goals, opportunities and risks
Client Servicing:
- Identify stakeholders and interact to understand their needs, processes and issues
- Collaboratively work across departments to problem solve while ensuring proper planning, accuracy and successful delivery of reports
- Continuously evaluate and, when possible, improve report production processes
Team Development
- Guide and mentor staff, providing ongoing feedback
- Write and conduct staff Performance Reviews and development planning
- Participate in the recruitment and training of new staff
Planning:
- Participate in the development and execution of the department’s business plan
- Contribute new ideas and recommendations to improve operations, productivity and quality
- Manage ad hoc projects or initiatives to meet plan objectives and goals.
Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- BA/BS required with 5+ years of related work experience
- At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in managing teams dedicated to proactive customer service
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work well independently and in teams
- Organized, and able to manage fluid daily, weekly, monthly and longer-term schedules/deadlines; balance short-term needs with long-term plans. Must be action-oriented and flexible
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrate intellectual curiosity, strong analytical evaluation and creative problem solving skills
- Demonstrated judgment, integrity, initiative, listening and leadership capabilities
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to positively communicate with many different levels of staff while leaving a strong sense of customer satisfaction
- A balance of discretion, understanding, and directness and a willingness to positively tackle difficult/complex projects and conversations
- General understanding and facility with support technology, including transactional engines and data bases.
- CFA, CAIA, or other professional designation/advanced degree preferred, but not required
- Strong knowledge of investment products and financial reporting practices is preferred
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with Microsoft Access and PowerPoint preferred
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
