In this visible and exciting role, the Manager, Revenue Recognition will be responsible for providing revenue recognition guidance to the Sales, Legal, Sales Operations and Marketing teams, and play a trusted advisor role for acquired company integration, customer contract negotiations, contract review for revenue recognition compliance, and revenue recognition training. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Revenue Recognition. The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a fast pace and changing environment working across many different functions within the business and finance. The successful applicant must excel in managing and understanding a wide range of issues and business models that could be driven by acquisitions, revenue recognition and strategic shifts in go-to-market strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Main point of contact for all revenue recognition matters relating to the integration of a recently acquired company
- Liaise with Sales Operations, Products Pricing, IT and Legal on acquired company product integration strategy and execution
- Work with Sales, Sales Operations and Legal during contract negotiations and provide suggestions and assistance in order to ensure proper revenue recognition
- Review revenue related contracts for compliance with revenue recognition guidelines, SAB 104, EITF 08-1 and determine appropriate treatment
- Maintain documentation for all review and compliance work completed
- Lead training on revenue recognition rules, policies and practices within the Company, and in particular within the Sales organization
- Delivers the highest standard of departmental, cross departmental and cross region customer service
- Revenue reporting and analysis as needed
- Lead and assist with other special projects as needed
Experience/Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- 7+ years of financial experience with relevant revenue recognition experience require
- 3+ years Big 4 experience
- Project Management skills including planning, task assignment, status tracking and reporting
Experience/Skills Desired:
- Recent experience in a revenue recognition role at a company with annual revenues of over $250 million preferred
- In-depth knowledge of SOP 97-2, EITF 00-21, and EITF 08-1 principles
- CPA strongly desired
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to articulate verbally and written, willingness to appropriately debate difficult issues; ability to think quickly and present to an audience
- Experience with MA, including integration
- Ability to work in dynamic, fast paced, fast growing company where adaptability is imperative
- Ability to build relationships with new and existing executives across functions
- Ability to quickly grasp company operations and business drivers
- Experience in the hi-tech industry preferred
- Experience with financial systems- Hyperion, Oracle, SAP, salesforce.com preferred
- Strong MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills highly desirable
