Manager Risk Control and Governance (Private bank) recruitment

The Company:
Client is a global bank.

The Role:
The overall function is to work closely with a team of Relationship Managers to provide support in all credit-related matters.

You are required to travelling about 5-6 trips for the first year, thereafter once setup, probably once a quarter. You will be required to work as an individual contributor role and reports to Head of Risk, Wealth Management, Emerging Markets which geographically cover Asia, EMEA and Latin America.

You will be working in conjunction with WM EM Location Risk offices, to develop, implement and uphold the bank's Enterprise level and WM Risk Control and Governance policies and structures to ensure WM EM risk control environment and culture remains effective and robust. Besides credit risks which are primarily driven, managed and handled by the Manager for Credit Risk and Strategic Risk initiatives for WM EM, you are responsible for the management of the Businesses' other risk types such as operational risk, investment risks, product risk management and reputational risks. You have to ensure full co-ordination of all relevant risk control and governance efforts across the various WM EM locations and the many legal entities they carry and support. You need to achieve close alignment and synergy in the development and implementation of various Risk Control policies, practices, processes, tools and structures across WM and EM offices for optimal effectiveness, transparency and efficiencies.

You will need to drive and put in place the critical '3 lines of defence' concept and vision in WM EM's business environment, practices and processes including raising the needed level of risk appreciation and ownership by all, take ownership and management of the WM EM Risk Dashboard (at EM consolidated basis) to allow WM EM Business and Management (WM EM OC) as well as GRM Toronto direct access to key risk data, statistics, analysis and reporting to facilitate accurate and timely risk decisions and work closely with the WM EM Manager for Credit Risk as well as WM EM Operational Risk functions (within WM business) and where relevant, with the various WM EM Location Risk offices in developing and implementing the critical risk dashboard across all Risk types/issues applicable for the WM EM businesses. You will cover also relevant portfolio and risk analysis, reporting and stress testing where necessary example Eurozone crisis risk planning.

You will work jointly with the WM EM Manager for Credit Risk, to be responsible for, to develop and manage the various WM EM Risk policies and guidelines for maximum possible alignment and consistency in this aspect. This means working closely with the Enterprise Policy group in Toronto as well as Global Services and any other platforms eg Capital Markets where necessary. You will carry the mandate and responsibility to help ensure close collaboration between GRM risk functions and the Operational Risk function (within WM business) as we strives for an Integrated Risk Approach in the WM EM risk model proposed herein.

Your Profile:
The successful candidate will have a minimum 15 years of solid working experience in Wealth Management operational risk management arena with sound knowledge of credit risk, market risk, product risk, investment risk and Basel 2. You will need to have an in-depth understanding of Wealth Management business and products, related risk control requirements across its platform and businesses. You will have the mobility to travel and ability to deliver under pressure. Having region-wide Wealth Management operational risk experience and knowledge would be an advantage example, Asia Pacific or Middle East market knowledge and experience. You will be technically sound with Microsoft Office applications especially Microsoft Excel/Word/Powerpoint, a Degree holder with outstanding command of written and spoken English. You will be a mature, independent risk professional and team player with superb problem solving abilities and outstanding communication and presentation skills.
