Title: Manager - Risk Management - Ratings and Basel II Operations Location: Utah-Salt Lake City Other Locations: The successful candidate in this position will be a critical player in the Rating Operations team within the Central Rating Unit (CRU) supporting Basel II and risk management teams at American Express. This position will work closely with other CRU teams to ensure rating processes and compliance functions operate effectively. The incumbent would work with data and systems to produce reports and to provide support across teams. Also, the individual would be required to document Basel related discussions/decisions and CRU policies/procedures. It will be essential for this candidate to be able to facilitate discussions with other departments and technology partners. Responsibilities would include: . Driving discussions and providing detail documentation related to business requirements for new development or enhancements to systems and capabilities. . Collaborating with business, risk personnel and model development teams to ensure deliver data, documentation, and infrastructure required for Basel Compliance. . Performing user acceptance testing for new enhancements or development of systems and capabilities. . Developing and implementing analytical and MIS reports, such as risk rating transition matrixes, default studies, and production reports. . Producing scheduled periodic reports and providing on-going updates to management regarding the status of data feeds, system operations and team performance. . Monitoring and supporting global fundamental rating teams to ensure ratings are performed annually for high exposure obligors and monthly for notched rated companies. . Managing risk alert process across global fundamental rating teams and eliminating gaps in the posting process. . Supporting daily operations related to rating functionality and supporting system needs. . Ensuring policies and procedures are updated, defined and maintained. . Supporting internal and external enterprise regulatory reporting requirements, including responses to ad hoc inquiries. . Bachelors degree in statistics, finance, financial analytics, or information systems, graduate degree preferred . Risk management experience strongly preferred . Experience testing technology changes to include creating test plans, use cases, test scripts, executing testing, documenting issues, and defect resolution .Project management skills . Proficient with database and statistics program, such SQL, SAS. . Strong Microsoft Office skills - Word, Excel, MS Access, PowerPoint and MS Project .Data mining experience . Experience writing documents rated to policies/procedures and diagramming process flows . Ability to work in a very fast-paced transition environment; requires excellent time management skills, ability to juggle multiple, competing priorities and strength in identifying and implementing solutions . Ability to work independently and effectively in a high demanding, complex environment with multi-location global team structure. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills
