Manager – Strategic Data Infrastructure recruitment

Job Description

This position will support the 'business owner' of the Strategic Data Infrastructure comprising of the Credit Data Warehouse (CDW) within the organisation.

The job position's focus would work with the Product Manager of DI in defining the Data Infrastructure Strategies, establish and govern usage of DI/ govern data delivery out of DI for any downstream purposes and streamline processes in using the applications , all of which will lead to efficiencies and a demonstrable outcome of reduced Total Cost of Ownership.

Key Roles Responsibilities

Primary responsibility of this job position will be:

* Support definition of Define Data Infrastructure Strategy and in gaining sponsorship from key business stakeholders across Finance and Business.
* Support establishing relationships across operations, technology and various other governance committees to achieve smooth execution of the strategy
* Support in managing the roadmap of these applications in line with the latest developments emerging in the market and stake-holder's strategic requirements.
* Work with the upstream service providers to ensure that data flow to the in-scope applications are streamlined and reconciled - this will in turn reduce the effort in investigating variances and reduce FTE in the centralized functions.
* Proactively work with upstream data providers / DQ Governance committees to establish minimum acceptable Data Quality (DQ) KPIs, assign ownership for upstream DQ issues and drive resolution.
* Work with the owners of downstream applications to streamline data usage from the in-scope applications by rationalizing the data extracts / feed files. This in turn will reduce the effort in managing the application. Establish design principles and ground rules for data usage from DI, principles for how data needs to be delivered for (a) use by another downstream application (b) for off-line extraction of data for direct consumption of users.
* Work with BI Product Manager and technology to establish structured means of data-delivery - through Cognos or OBIEE business intelligence tools, so that there is a streamlined governance around data extraction from DI vertical.
* Provide clear identification of criticality of data elements, quality assurance measures and metrics for usability and acceptance

Qualifications Skills

Essential

* Understanding of Financial, Market and Credit Risk data infrastructure and models, its use and maintenance as pertaining to the Financial Services Industry
* Ability to reconstruct a unique set of core data attributes, dimensions and hierarchies as part of the development of a strategic logical data model and architecture for finance.
* Must have done data profiling, analysis, and user acceptance testing and BAU management before
* Delivery of high quality work, in a limited amount of time
* Excellent attention to detail, problem solving skills
* High levels of drive and self motivation
* Pragmatic approach to achieving the objectives set, able to flex an approach as needed
* Track record of working in a very organised way, multitasking, prioritising, managing data, and setting and achieving deadlines (both short and long term)
* Capacity to think creatively and laterally; excellent reasoning skills and the ability to make sound judgments

Desirable

* Strong team player, but also able to work independently
* Strong project management skills and operational discipline.
* Core Financial management reporting knowledge and sound knowledge of financial controls and processes
* Knowledge of Data Warehouse principles, data architecture principles will be an added advantage.

Qualifications Skills

* Strong data infrastructure and architecture background, familiar with the a typical Bank's core Financial and Management reporting capabilities
* Systematic and logical analytical skills in problem solving, ability to deal with both granularity of issues and how it fits into the bigger picture of Finance Transformation agenda
* Collaboration skills, especially with business and technology partners.
* Strong credibility with stakeholders, GTO partners with delivery track record
* Ability to present complex problems and solutions in simple, logical ways.
