Manager, Trade Floor Risk Management
POSITION SUMMARY:
Situated on the Scotia Capital trade floor, you will ensure that market risks in the Equity Derivatives business at Scotia Capital are properly identified, controlled and reported in accordance with Bank policies.
Primary Business Coverage: Equity Derivatives trading business. Traded products include equity options (OTC and listed), total return swaps, variance swaps and dividend swaps. OTC options range from plain vanilla to more structured options relating to structured note offerings.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Market Risk
- Accountable for the identification and assessment of market risks in the covered businesses, and also ensuring consistency with the Bank's risk appetite and the approved business mandate. Identify market risk issues that require escalation to senior management and provide recommendations for resolution.
PL Risk Attribution
- Responsible for PL attribution by risk factor daily. This includes understanding and explaining discrepancies between risk based p/l estimates and p/l attribution.
- Ensure that the daily PL of covered businesses is scrutinized to identify risk taking activities and valuation issues.
Valuation
- Accountable for ensuring that trading portfolios are valued properly and in accordance with Bank standards, including the execution and documentation of valuation processes.
Risk Limits
- Accountable for preparing analysis and recommendations on new products and other market risk limit issues, including limit structure and amounts, for presentation to the Market Risk Management and Policy Committee.
Operational Support
- Responsible for directly managing operational processes on new products and businesses prior to being productionalized.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in a risk management or trading role.
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong computer skills including Excel and VBA, familiar with UNIX environment
- Ability to deal in a fast pace environment
- Ability to work independently and without direct supervision
EDUCATION AND ACCREDITATION:
- Degree in commerce or other quantitative discipline and progress towards CFA/FRM/PRM designation preferred.
