Job Summary: Manage the safe operation of work equipment employees performing repair and/or rebuild of CSX roadway equipment. Manage quality performance and safety of assigned region, plant and/or team. Primary Activities and Responsibilities: * Communicate the safety plan outlined by the Engineering Departments to promote and provide a safe working environment. Ensure proper use of tools, equipment, policies and procedures * Supervise work equipment employees (mechanics, operators, etc) in the repair and/or rebuild of roadway equipment. Coach/counsel for high levels of productivity and quality work. Ensure compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and CSX rules and regulations. * Assist operations and maintenance management with production schedules and overall Engineering and Work Equipment Department goals. Participate in developing plans and processes to minimize cost through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials. Oversee budgets and parts inventory as needed. * Complete required reports and documentation. * Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * High School diploma/GED or Associates degree from an accredited institution required * 3 or more years of experience in Heavy Equipment Maintenance or 1 or more years of supervisory experience in Equipment Maintenance required Preferred Qualifications In addition to meeting the above qualifications, any of the following are preferred: * Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering * 3 or more years of supervisory experience in Equipment Maintenance Knowledge and Skills: * Knowledge of labor agreements applicable to work equipment * Knowledge of Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) rules and regulations as they apply to Work Equipment * Knowledge of railroad roadway equipment repair * Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and pneumatic components * Coaching skills (to include leading diverse groups) * Inventory Management skills * Microsoft Office skills Competencies: The CSX Competency Framework is the foundation of our Talent Strategy and is what drives CSX performance. Job Requirements: * 100% travel required. * Wear protective equipment such as welding shields, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toe boots, work boots, safety vest, face shield and safety glasses. * Work hours may vary in length and schedule. Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek. * Work hours may include on call 7 days a week, 24 hours per day, with extended periods of time away from home. * Federal regulations require random testing for drugs and/or alcohol. * The applicant selected for this position may be required to successfully complete a background check and physical including a drug test. Passing results must be received prior to start date in new position. Environmental Conditions: * Work outside in all weather conditions. * Work with equipment that intensifies the heat factor. * Work with hazardous materials on an occasional basis.
