Managers, Senior Managers, Actuarial, General Insurance for prestigious international consultancy recruitment
My client's Global Actuarial Services practice, with over 650 actuarial professionals, ranks in the Top 3 actuarial services practices in the world. In Europe they have over 300 actuarial professionals across 17 countries. By partnering with other practices across the business, they aim to provide truly integrated services across all disciplines in the Insurance and Financial Services industries. Through their deep knowledge of the global insurance industry, local regulatory requirements and our understanding of the industry, they have built a strong reputation as a leading actuarial and insurance advisor.
Technical skills requirements:
• The team's trajectory in recent years has seen them build, from their core Lloyd's and London market activities, into UK and European direct-writers and global reinsurance groups. They have also significantly broadened from conventional GI actuarial fields of deterministic reserving, pricing and modelling - into wider consultancy projects embracing advanced reserve ranges, stochastic reserving, economic capital, Swiss Solvency Test, Solvency II and Bermudian prudential regime change.
• You will be a qualified (or very nearly qualified, in the case of Managers) actuary with degree qualification and professional fellowship of the UK Actuarial Profession or a global equivalent award. You will have general insurance experience gained from working either in an insurer or at an actuarial consultancy firm.
• You will bring expertise from one, or preferably several, of the GI actuarial competencies - reserving, pricing, modelling, etc.
• You will also need to be an effective communicator and able to deal with outward-facing client management on projects and on-selling. You will require energy and dedication combined with a desire to fit in well, yet make your presence felt within our collegiate team.
• My client is currently engaged in increasing their capacity for larger capital modelling and Solvency II implementation projects. This is in response to the changing marketplace for their services. They are in a strong position to build on their existing client-base of UK ICA and Swiss SST model-build and model-review, ERM development, Solvency II QIS3, QIS4 and gap analyses: performed for a variety of clients varying by market sector, and by size. These projects are demanding an increased level of classic consulting skills - more intensive client interaction, wider than actuaries and up to senior executive and board level - change management processes - and so on.
Client responsibilities
- Manage to completion the technical delivery and reporting for projects for which you are the coordinator;
- Interact with clients during and at final stages of projects;
- Present, or assist senior management to present, to clients at senior executive and board levels;
- Contribute to projects as a topic / subject matter specialist (if not acting as coordinator);
- Play your part in the development of intellectual property to support sales-oriented client interaction; and
- Grow your own client-site network of contacts.
As a Senior Manager, you will assist Partners and Directors in client development in the following ways:
- Heading-up on specific areas of the development of intellectual property;
- Developing your own client network, adding new "cold contacts" to your existing bank of warm client contacts from past and current work;
- Assisting Partners and Directors in client account development and on-selling activities; and
- Handling the process of client proposals - receipt, clarification of needs, drafting, written and oral presentation - and coordinating with Partners/Directors as appropriate.
People responsibilities
- Develop people through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring staff.
- As a counsellor yourself, you will attend and participate in the round tables reviewing the overall performance of the team.
- Play a role in team administration tasks - such as feedback, counselling, finance, recruitment, learning, etc.
