Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Managing Director of Pharmacy Healthcare Solutions and working closely with other consulting professionals, responsible for delivering key components of client service engagements, identifying new business opportunities within existing clients and supporting various aspects of practice development, as assigned.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide strategic and analytical support for areas specified by Client (e.g. supply chain initiatives, purchasing for materials and pharmaceuticals, review of guidelines/policy protocols, benchmarking, and utilization review, etc.) identifying and quantifying new areas of cost savings or overall utilization improvement opportunities.

2. Under Client’s direction, evaluates pharmacotherapeutic and other supply chain utilization parameters to translate clinical, operational and financial data into knowledge for affecting outcomes and resource utilization.

3. Working with both corporate and individual member hospitals as directed, evaluate physician prescribing and supply utilization trends for therapeutic and cost-savings opportunities and work with hospital Committee(s) to evaluate supply chain policies and procedures and protocols.

4. Perform gap analyses of current supply chain services performed and benchmarking as directed to identify areas of ongoing improvements opportunities as directed.

5. Work with Client to develop a supply chain dashboard to provide routine metrics results from agree-upon initiatives and parameters to measure ongoing performance.

6. Provide operational best practice knowledge for materials and pharmacy services across the continuum of healthcare for Client including inpatient and ambulatory patient care areas. Develop methods for documentation and quantification of services rendered.

7. Provide credentialing and training tools as directed by Client for health system associates as they relate to ongoing and new programs.

8. Utilize available tools from and act as a liaison with AmerisourceBergen and PHS.

  1. Work with Client Corporate Officers to establish alignment with the overall strategic objectives and participate in scheduled updates tracking progress against defined milestones.
  2. May provide Fee-for-Service engagements for Client to Client’s Members depending on the type of supply chain initiative.
  3. Position will be based in the Client’s corporate offices in Asheville, NC.

 

Process and Management

  1. Consultant Resource will abide by all Client’s policies procedures, including confidentiality disclosure statements.

2. Annual performance review process will include seeking input from Client regarding performance before conducting review.

3. Client will provide adequate work space, furnishings, general office supplies, laptop I.T. support to ensure client connectivity and confidentiality. PHS will be responsible for all other related expenses.

 

 

Experience and Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree in clinical, engineering, business logistics or information technology fields of discipline; advanced degree highly preferred, such as PharmD, MBA, MHA, MS, such as MBA, MHA, MS; minimum of five years hospital/health system experience, with demonstrated expertise in health care supply chain analytics, managerial or consulting experience preferred. Knowledge of cost analysis techniques and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements

  1. Demonstrated experience and knowledge of problem solving, performance improvement, process and clinical analysis methods and approaches
  2. If clinical or pharmacy consulting role, will require specific primary and advanced health degree (s), such as Pharmacy, Nursing, etc.
