Managing Director Infrastructure and Operations recruitment

Overview:

The Managing Director, Infrastructure and Operations is responsible for the implementation and operations of all technology infrastructure deployed across CME Group, which includes data centers, network and server services, telephony, service monitoring, user support/help desk, workstation management, database, storage and related software. This position is operationally responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, and security for all IT systems and infrastructure. Key objective of role is to ensure CME Group Trading and Clearing systems are running 24/7/365 with limited interruptions and timely resolution of operational challenges. The position will report to the Chief Information Officer and will work closely with decision makers in other departments in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions. The MD IO will be a member of the IT Management team and lead a team of over 400 employees.

Key Responsibilities:

• Overall leadership of the Infrastructure, Operations, Network, Database, and Corporate systems infrastructure teams
• Partners with CIO and the members of the IT Management Team (ITMT) to lead the technology infrastructure strategy and execution for CME Group.
• Planning, project management and implementation leadership, identifying opportunities for automation, cost savings, and service quality improvement.
• Participate in the formulation of the company's enterprise architecture and business system plans; assessing cost and feasibility, and ensuring the plan is aligned with and supports the strategic goals of the business.
• Ensure cost-effective design, development, integration, implementation, testing and maintenance of the new computing architecture systems in support of business objectives and requirements
• Lead Technology engineering function that will design, engineer, construct, and operate technical computing systems and architecture for CME Group.
• Work with CME Group executive leadership to provide guidance and direction on infrastructure planning, implementation and maintenance to maximize uptime and scalability
• Develops the engineering and technology management capabilities of the organization, managing and developing existing staff as well as recruitment.
• Provides infrastructure services vision, enables innovation and seeks to leverage IT trends that can create business value consistent with the company's requirements and expectations.
• Oversee the day to day operations of a 24/7 high traffic trading environment as well as plan new build-outs and initiatives
• Participate in strategic planning, tactical operation planning, and the development of contingency operation plans for Production and other environments
• Conduct capacity planning to ensure timely acquisition of IT resources, monitor infrastructure budget and IT resources
• Oversee sizable Capital Expenditures and Computing expenses for the company, including budgeting, tracking, and cost containment
• Ensure the preparation of a disaster recovery site and test exercises to restore all operations in a timely manner
• Oversee all monitoring and analysis tools and processes
• Oversee production scheduling and change management processes and achieve performance criteria as specified in customer Service Level Agreements (SLA)
• Work closely with the Development teams to facilitate enterprise application architecture
• Works closely with and manage strategic vendor partner relationships and negotiations

Qualifications:

• 15+ years of IT management experience, including 10+ years in a production 24/7 high-availability multi-site enterprise financial services environment, including application hosting, voice and data networks, security and information protection and 4+ years experience with high availability networks and replicated disaster recovery architectures.
• Proven IT leadership and staff development skills in a regulated industry.
• Comfortable managing highly-available complex infrastructure with 24/7 availability and support.
• Significant experience managing technology vendor relationships and sizable negotiations.
• Experience with comprehensive disaster recovery architecture and operations, including storage area network and redundant, highly-available server and network architectures.
• Experience with regulatory compliance issues, as well best practices in application and network security.
• Experience with a relevant IT service management framework in this area, such as COBIT or ITIL
• Managed diverse functional groups in a mission critical leadership role, of at least 200 professionals.
• Proven ability to build strategic relationships and influence partners internally and externally, including vendor negotiation and management.
• Demonstrated experience in governing a multi-vendor delivery model, including offshore.
• Demonstrated experience in interacting with executive levels across a business.
• Demonstrated experience in developing annual and multi-year infrastructure technology plans strategies, with significant budgetary responsibilities.
• Demonstrated experience in running operations.
