Managing Director, Institutional Fundraising recruitment

 Highland Capital Management, L.P. is an investment management firm with $20 billion under management.  We manage a variety of funds including private equity, hedge funds and other alternative and traditional investment products.  Our Limited Partners are pension funds, endowments, foundations, fund of funds and other institutional investors.  The firm has been in business since 1993 and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas with offices in New York, Singapore and Seoul. Despite our size and global reach, Highland remains a founder-run, entrepreneurial company that fosters internal growth and entrepreneurship. 

This individual will work as part of the Business Development team, which is responsible for developing and executing the firm’s global growth initiatives related to new products, fund formation, strategic growth and asset gathering.  This position is based in London.

Responsibilities

• Identify and develop new relationships with institutional clients in Europe and the Middle East
• Grow and develop a region or channel of prospective investors; must have an active set of relationships
• Conduct appropriate market research on target prospects, set up meetings and clearly communicate the firm’s strategies and differentiating factors
• Initiate client relationships and manage entire process including long term relationship
• Work with Investor Relations and other team members to facilitate on-site due diligence meetings
• Participate in the development of marketing and investor materials for both potential and existing investors
• Work with managing partners of the firm to enhance the growth, profitability and value of the firm

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant institutional fundraising experience in Europe and the Middle East, with a documented record of accomplishment
• Demonstrable personal relationships with institutional investors in alternative funds, with deep expertise in any client sub-group including pensions, endowments, foundations, banks, insurance companies and consultants.  Ideally relationships are with alternative/fixed income decision makers at these institutions.
• London location/relocation is a must
• Because of the complex nature of the firm’s investment strategies, this individual is expected to have strong conceptual and analytical skills, ideally with knowledge of credit and structured products
• Excellent communication skills and ability to function well as part of a team
• BA/BS or related business degree from a well-regarded institution, MBA a plus
• The successful candidate must have a strong sense of pride, passion, ownership and personal accountability
