Mandate Adherence Analyst recruitment
This role has been created to assist in the delivery of the investment mandate monitoring program at SWIP. The role holder will help ensure all funds under SWIP's management have both pre post trade rules set up on ThinkFolio (TF), the company's compliance monitoring system.
Key accountabilities:
The role entails ensuring there is a robust investment mandate monitoring framework within SWIP, which includes carrying out annual / periodic / risk based fund reviews while assessing manual BAU tasks for their potential for being monitored by TF. The role holder will work with senior Investment Operations, Investment Control, Data Management Fund Management colleagues in providing assurance that key controls throughout the business are both effective delivered in a cost efficient manner.
* For all funds, ensure the creation of 'Rule Restrictions' spreadsheets detailing appropriate system (TF) controls. Review test the pre/post trade rules for all the FI, cash, equity other fund types on TF
* Were a rule can't be coded, record the requirement for a manual control inform the manual control database owner
* Support a collegiate team approach towards rule coding consistency / efficiency
* Assist in the daily monitoring of funds to ensure that they are in compliance with the relevant regulations and investment restrictions. In the event of a breach, follow Operational Risk procedures
* Provide FMs/Risk with support in rule interpretation data evaluation when assessing rule output
* Work with the business on new fund launches and mandate / prospectus rewrites, managing the feedback to improve TF coding as well as a reduction in the number complexity of manual controls
* Assist the business in the standardisation of mandate layout, terms internal consistency
* Help in maintaining the robustness of SWIP's overarching rule sets e.g.
* House, Eligible Markets, Regulatory (COLL, OEIC NURs rule 'buckets') rules
* Liaise with Fund Managers, Client Directors, internal risk monitoring functions as well as external auditors (e.g. Group, AAF, Trustees), answering queries and assist in managing the resolution of any issues
Data TF -
* Raise, track resolve TF items (data, coding, system enhancements) on the team's 'Issues Log.' Minute regular meetings with involved parties
* Actively pursue the reduction of SWIP's manual controls through TF coding working with DMT to enhance data
* Liaise with the Business Technology Maintenance team to accurately define TF enhancement requirements (stretching TF capabilities) to resolve outstanding issues. Assist IT in testing what has been developed
* Communicate the removal of manual controls to the business the manual control database owner
* General TF maintenance around rule sets, asset classifications, closed funds, inactive rules etc
General -
* Enhance, develop and maintain a general risk and compliance culture and awareness within SWIP
* Assist in maintaining the team's Operating model, procedures coding protocols
* Actively seek to improve personal TF rule writing / coding knowledge assist in training others
* Raise SWIP's awareness of the Mandate Adherence monitoring function via our intranet page meetings
* Keep management informed (verbal/written), on a timely basis, of issues and matters arising
* Support management undertake any special projects / tasks as may be required from time to time
* Maintain department files records (both paper electronic) in accordance with approved procedures
What Skills/Experience will you need?
* An understanding of the investment management business (essential)
* A comprehensive knowledge of TF (desirable) or another such compliance system (essential)
* Experience in identifying mandate / prospectus 'rules' and coding appropriate controls (essential)
* Awareness of UK and overseas regulations applicable to the investment management business (desirable)
* Experience in developing and executing test plans to provide assurance that key controls are operational (desirable)
* Ability to work accurately and within timescales (essential)
* Excellent communication skills (essential)
* A good understanding of excel (desirable)
