Manufacturing Cost Accountant
Leading manufacturer, wholesaler and distribution company located in Downtown Houston is currently seeking a Cost Accountant to add to their team. This position will be responsible for conducting moderately complex cost audits and preparing and analyzing cost reports. This role will be working with a team to perform cost analysis and reconciliations and will also be responsible for monitoring cost control systems and interpreting and disseminating cost accounting information to management. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with the general ledger, specifically with month-end closing Determine manufacting costs and report on standard cost to actual production costs Manage inventory reconciliations Responsible for closing production work orders and variance analysis Assist with physical inventories and cycle counts Responsible for performing cost estimates Perform cost driver analysis Analyze inventory turn over; slow moving/obsolescence Identify, measure, and analyze key cost drivers and cost centers Assist in the evaluation of effectiveness of maintenance operations compared to the budget and forecasts Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and suggest resolutions Required travel 1-2 times per month (as needed) REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Accounting required Must have experience working in a Manufacturing industry At least 5+ years of experience working directly in cost accounting MicroStrategy software experience a plus Proficiency with MS Office applications For immediate consideration, please apply online.
