Manufacturing Engineer

This New Ulm, Minnesota Manufacturing Engineering position will support the Plastic Molding and Assembly focused factory.  3M New Ulm is comprised of about 600 employees.  New Ulm is located approximately 100 miles southwest of the Twin Cities. The 3M New Ulm plant operates over 100 injection molding machines and is a major manufacturer of molded and assembled electrical connectors and personal safety products. Other manufacturing technologies used in this focused factory include high speed automated mechanical assembly metal stamping.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
Identify and implement quality and productivity improvement projects in the area of plastic injection molding. Optimize molding cycle, improve part removal, reduce quality defects, and etc.
Perform cross-functional team leadership for new process start-ups, new process technology integration, aggressive cost reduction, and supply chain improvement/management.

 
Candidate skills:
The successful candidate is desired to have education or experience in the area of plastic injection molding. Other useful skills are as follows:  Systematic problem solving, Lean Six Sigma, statistical analysis, equipment design, controls and automation, sensing inspection. Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills are vital, as well as strong written and oral communication skills.
