We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (Continuous Improvement) for our Wheeling, Illinois site.
The Manufacturing Engineer (CI) will be responsible for driving lean manufacturing principles by troubleshooting and implementing solutions to manufacturing problems. This includes the leading of continuous improvement initiatives through development and enhancement of new existing manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze manufacturing activities and equipment. Make recommendations for improvements, troubleshoot problems and develop necessary corrective actions.
- Supports CI / Lean method projects on the shop floor in a wide variety of areas (TPM, SMED, FLOW, MM, WPO, etc.) with bottom line impact.
- Carry out detailed evaluations of problems, clarifying details of operations, organizing testing with manufacturing employees, and ensuring the implementation of corrective measures.
- Collect all necessary data to support recommended changes. Implement changes with approval of Engineering.
- Provide engineering assistance and expertise including analysis of tooling/machining problems, implementation of corrective action and process transition
- Provide design enhancement/improvement of new and existing production operations. Develop and facilitate operator training as needed.

Required Experience
Requirements:
- 3 - 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment; some relevant college coursework / apprenticeship / technical training or associate degree desired or minimally equivalent field experience.
- Capability to analyze and solve technical problems through logical troubleshooting techniques and make recommendations for procedural and/or equipment enhancements, process improvements, quality enhancements and product design.
- Demonstrated process development capabilities including tool/fixture design, machine design and automation, CNC programming, machinery and equipment acquisition, layout of equipment and operations for most efficient flow.
- Ability to establish good working relationships with all levels of Operations personnel as well as support all departments on an as needed basis
- Working knowledge of applicable customer and regulatory standards.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization (internal customers) and external customers/vendors/suppliers, promoting a sense of cooperation and understanding for all company policies and goals
Desired Background/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Industrial/Manufacturing) or related technical field
- Previous medical device product manufacturing experience
- Familiarity with Mini-Tab, MS Suite (Excel, Project), Visio Oracle
- Working knowledge of computer assisted drafting and manufacturing (AUTOCAD)
- Knowledge of Quality Control Systems, ISO 13485 validation (OQ/PQ)
- Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control techniques
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques and principles to drive cycle time improvements and process flows
- Ability to champion cross-functional teams to achieve continuous improvement results
