Job Objective:
The manufacturing engineer will develop and improve manufacturing processes by studying products and manufacturing methods. The engineer will work with other departments and the tool room to optimize manufacturing equipment design and output. The engineer is also required to use excel and other software in optimizing processes and handle various requests in a timely and organized manner. He/She will also perform a variety of manufacturing engineering work assignments using lean manufacturing principles and implementing new equipment and processes for production.
Responsibilities will include equipment design and implementation, equipment layout, capital expenditure and return on investment analysis, automation, and mentor younger staff members. He/She will assist with predictive and preventive maintenance planning activities and work with other staff to root-cause quality issues as seen in current production systems.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Determine the most effective ways to best utilize people, machines, materials, information, and energy to provide a service.
- Increase productivity through the management of people, methods of business organization, and technology.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished - product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Strong problem solving and organizational skills must be detail oriented when documenting technical information.
- Provides manufacturing engineering direction on error proofing requirements for production systems to eliminate quality related issues. This will be required for both current and future production tools / cells.
- Supports the organizations process improvement efforts as a whole.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service using the data collected from the preventive maintenance system.
- Maintains product and process data bases by utilizing excel and other computer programs; entering data, etc.
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
- Deliver real improvements that positively impact the company's bottom-line through a combination of expertise in quantitative methods and experience across all business functions.
- Qualifications include a minimum of 5 years experience in industrial plant operations along with a formal education commensurate to this opportunity.
