Manufacturing Engineer

In this position, you will be responsible for organizing, developing, and planning of production equipment and processes to improve the efficiency of operations.  Specific responsibilities include:

·         In conjunction with RD and sales, prepares cost models for new products; manages transition from prototype to production; conducts validation of new process including equipment and materials to ensure specifications are met; ensures equipment reliability and capability and robustness of new processes.

·         Maintains existing processes including auditing manufacturing processes; recommending changes to equipment and processes which will increase quality, productivity, and profit margins; and performing work measurement using time study and/or other measuring techniques.  Takes preventative actions to error proof processes.

·         Facilitates improvements in production capacity through: establishing measurement programs and making sample observations of work to develop standards of manpower utilization; analyzing utilization of manpower and machines and develops work simplification programs; planning space layout to attain objectives of work measurements and simplifications studies; making recommendations for reorganization of processes and job duties to increase efficiency and eliminate material and labor variances.

·         Manages capital projects

·         Creates and maintains engineering documentation including drawings, manufacturing standards and work instructions.

·         Identifies and implements cost reduction projects through analysis of variances, scrap reduction, material usage, and manpower or equipment productivity improvements.

·         Improves cost, functionality, and quality of product including testing materials, equipment, and seal quality

·         Train production employees on new products, processes, equipment

·         Interface with customers and vendors on new and existing products and processes.

·         Respond to customer complaints with root cause analysis and corrective actions.

·         Support Natural Work Teams and TQL teams on project activities

·         Generate and support continuous improvement activities

·         Provide engineering support for subsidiaries

 

 

To qualify, you must have a bachelors degree in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.  A minimum of three to five years of experience in process methodization, and equipment planning and design required.  Experience with AutoCAD required. Must be able to manage multiple priorities, be active on the production floor, and have strong project management skills.  Experience with PLC controls programming, Allen Bradley software, and integration desirable.  The successful candidate will have knowledge of processes utilizing custom automatic equipment including hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic control circuits.  Experience with form, fill, seal equipment desirable.
