The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing support to the manufacturing processes, including assembly, test, burn-in, calibration, alignment, etc. This position also provides support of products in production, including activities such as troubleshooting and characterizing systemic failures, maintaining product documentation, and implementing manufacturability improvements. This position is also responsible for supporting company quality control systems, including the collection and analysis of product performance data. This person relies on limited to moderate experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals and works under general supervision, typically reporting to a supervisor or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. The minimum requirements are 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience. A Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience required.
Manufacturing Process Support
i. Develop and maintain product process documentation, such as product assembly procedures, product test/calibration/alignment procedures, assembly and test checklists, standard operating procedures, etc.
ii. Support implementation and maintenance of the manufacturing line and equipment, such as specification and selection of basic test and assembly equipment, developing and implementing equipment maintenance and calibration procedures, repairing and maintaining assembly, burn-in and test equipment.
iii. Develop fixtures and jigs to aid in the assembly and test of products.
iv. Support implementation of practices and procedures to improve standard operations including ESD control, material flow and control, etc.
v. Develop and follow procedures, equipment, policies and practices to maintain a safe work environment at all times.
Manufacturing Product Support
i. Review and help maintain engineering product documentation such as drawings, Bills of Material, specifications - provide red-line mark-ups for review and acceptance by the responsible product engineers.
ii. Review field and factory failures, to identify common failure modes and issues of a systemic nature. Characterize failures (symptoms, frequency of occurrence, conditions under which failure occurs). As assigned, resolve recurring problems or support activities of more senior engineers in problem resolution.
iii. Identify areas for improved product manufacturability, reduced product cost, or improved product reliability. Under guidance of more senior personnel, evaluate alternatives and make recommendations for improvement. Implement improvements as assigned.
iv. As needed, work with suppliers to correct problems or initiate improvements in accordance with manufacturability, cost and reliability improvement projects.
v. Initiate and implement ECO's to correct or improve product and process documentation.
Support Quality Control systems
i. Establish methods for gathering meaningful product performance data, such as test yields, time or temperature attributes, test measurements, etc. Provide routine analysis of such data, as needed to maintain process control or drive improvements.
ii. As requested, provide reports to support CCT quality systems.
* Bachelors Degree in a technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
* Previous experience in an Electronics Manufacturing environment required
* Familiarity with electronics, circuit board manufacturing technology, and circuit board and electro/mechanical assembly functional test methods and procedures is required
* Ability to interface with personnel throughout the Operations and Engineering organizations in respectful, efficient and productive ways, including both oral and written communications.
* Use of Visio or other simple CAD tools to document high level block diagrams
* Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, World-Wide Web, and e-mail.
* Familiarity with Engineering documentation standards, ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, specifications, and electronic schematics.
* Ability to create manufacturing documentation, such as written procedures and fixture documentation.
