Manufacturing Engineer- Assembly and  Plant Process Improvement

Direct Hire placement position:

Top 3 Skill sets:

1.    Experience in automotive or truck, heavy Vehicle and previous assembly experience a big plus

2.    Project Support/ Management Skills

3.    Experience with integrating components of any of the following powertrain,  brake system, tires, engines, drivetrain, steering,  suspensions, transmission,  electro-mechanical components,  or other chassis components.

Typical Day in the life of our Manufacturing Engineers:  Working on Continuous improvement projects  including poke yokes and plant layout improvements.   Plans, designs, and coordinates integration of machinery and equipment into an industrial establishment, applying knowledge of engineering and manufacturing to direct installation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of assembly and manufacturing processes.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

 

·         Designs and directs installation of plant systems or product lines

·         Develops and writes equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, and proposal for integrating machinery and equipment

·         Determines parts supply, maintenance tasks, safety procedures, and service schedule required to maintain machines and equipment in prescribed condition

·         Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities

·         Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency

·         Tests newly installed machines and equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications

·         Analyzes work study data and equipment specifications to establish time and production standards

·         Develops models of alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications of system components, and recommends implementation of improved procedures

·         Designs and integrates fixtures, carts, and lifting devices to increase throughput of current processes

·         Assists other functional areas as required

·         Experience in product launch or new model launch a plus.

 

Qualifications:

 

·         Bachelor degree in mechanical/industrial engineering or related field required, BSME or BSIE

·         5 years’ experience in manufacturing/industrial engineering preferred

·         Knowledge of Lean Production techniques, Continuous Flow, and Just-In-Time concepts

·         Working knowledge of Solid Works and AutoCAD

·         Experience with SPC and Six Sigma preferred

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work closely with production associates during problem solving activities and lean initiatives

·         Self-motivated and able to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance

·         Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams

·         Computer literate with knowledge of various software including Microsoft Office products
