Advanced Coating Technologies (ACT), leading thermal barrier coating manufacturer for nearly 20 years in Orange County, NY seeks a Manufacturing Engineer for our growing business.

 

ACT is a joint venture of Pratt Whitney (PW), a United Technologies Corp. company, and Chromalloy (CGTC), a business unit of Sequa Corp.  ACT utilizes PW and Chromalloy’s proven production capabilities to apply PW proprietary state-of-the-art thermal barrier coatings on high pressure turbine airfoils for PW’s commercial and military gas turbine engines.

 

Description:

Coordinate the overlay coating activities of a multi-disciplinary team aimed at increasing advanced coating capacity for turbine airfoils.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Day-to-day leadership, direction coordination of Pratt Whitney support organizations and Joint Venture Partners to establish and startup a green-field shared business venture focusing on application of advanced coating systems.

 

·         Process development, staffing and training, as well as the installation and startup of advanced coating equipment, which includes surface preparation and overlay coating finishing equipment.
 

·         Create technical requirements and optimize process parameters required to support the overlay coating processes.

 

·         Support and setup of the organizational infrastructure within the manufacturing environment. This ranges from business data collection and design of suitable metrics to characterize plant performance, to the operational details of material and part flow during the advanced coating process.

 

·         Initial policy creation and deployment in the areas of EHS, Lean Manufacturing, Quality, Cost Reduction, and Customer Satisfaction are but a few of the competences required.

 

Requirements:
Education:

·         2 year technical degree minimum preferred, Bachelor’s Degree an asset (Industrial, Materials Science, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineer)

Experience/Qualifications:             

·         5+ years related experience (a comparable combination of education experience will be considered)

·         Experience with thermal barrier coatings (Electron Beam Physical Vapor Deposition-EBPVD) or plasma spraying process (Air Plasma Spray-APS) a plus

·         Experienced in robotic programming a plus (ability to utilize and program ASEA robot via S4 control a plus) *Training will be provided to suitable candidate

·         Six Sigma green or black belt training and/or lean manufacturing training a plus

·         Must be easily adaptable to changing business conditions

·         Excellent communicator with all levels within the organization
