SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
This position provides engineering support and project management for large capital projects and cost reduction initiatives.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manufacturing Engineering Projects. (Scope, cost, justification and timing).
- Cost Reduction; work flow optimizations to reduce pack labor, secondary packaging and freight cost analysis for Silgan plastic bottle plants in US and Canada
a) Identify and implement productivity improvements.
b) Develop an infrastructure plan to achieve standardization of utilities at each production plant. i.e. compressed air, chilled water and tower water and electrical distribution.
c) Provide plant engineering support as required.
d) Provide engineering, PPE, or training solutions to high exposure areas based on near miss or accident report.
- Development of training, documentation for equipment and best demonstrated manufacturing methodology. Preventive Maintenance Schedules.
- Support the design, improvement and fabrication of internally developed and purchased blow molding and auxiliary equipment.
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma
Preferred: Engineering Degree (i.e. Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical)
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
Required: 1 – 5 years material handling design, installation and startup experience with
emphasis on light weight HDPE, PVC, PP and PET parts.
Preferred: Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Excel and Project)
Drawing Skills: 2D CAD drawing skills for plant layouts and equipment requests. 3D
modeling capability is a plus
Industrial Electricity and Controls:
- Basic knowledge of industrial power distribution
- Basic understanding of ladder logic and control systems
- Pneumatic Control design is a plus
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Position is located in the Atlanta metropolitan area with a minimum of 30% travel required.
