Manufacturing Manager

 

 

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for leading manufacturing activities, providing coaching services and leading improvement/culture change as well as ensuring their area consistently delivers against factory KPIs.

 

The role is focussed on ensuring that teams are able to meet targets set for quality, cost and service.  A key aspect is also to develop a more self empowered team, by training, coaching and development of individuals through strong leadership.

 

 

Scope Dimension of Role

 

·         Ensure teams maintain all GMP standards. Ensure 5S standards are adhered to.

·         Ensure all SOPs are followed and, if not, corrective actions are identified and action taken.

·         Ensuring maximum flexibility both within work teams and between groups by identifying training issues with Crew Leaders and taking the subsequent steps to ensure the training is enacted.

·         Delivery of KPIs

·         Review OEE results on a weekly basis with their direct and support teams and agree main issues and improvement plans for following week.

·         Ensure performance reviews of teams are carried out on a monthly basis, with any issues/training/development opportunities being communicated to PSL/Operations Manager.

·         Ensure near miss forms are generated and reviewed/actioned.  Ensure all accidents are reported to yourself/other area management for investigation.

·         Ensure team rosters are owned by local teams and are aligned with 3 week firm-fence planning window.

·         Coach, provide, support, lead and drive productivity improvements.

 

Key Challenges

 

·         Challenge teams to make their own decisions and accept responsibility for the outcome

·         Ensure that briefings are 2 way events focussed on driving KPI improvements

·         Delivering products within quality, cost and time constraints

·         Identifying, recommending and implementing process improvements.

 

 

Professional Qualifications Background

 

·         Graduate calibre with broad experience (2 years plus) of Manufacturing Operations management in a relevant industry, ideally FMCG

·         At least 2 years experience in a relevant technical discipline, i.e. Engineering / Scientific
