Title: Production Scheduler

Location: Frederick, MD

Major duties and responsibilities:

 

The primary role of the production scheduler is to establish, communicate and maintain the manufacturing schedule with consideration of equipment, building utilities and staffing constraints.  In addition, the production scheduler will build and continuously improve systems to enhance schedule management, communication and adherence

 

Specifically, the Scheduler will execute the following:

* The Production Scheduler is a member of the Manufacturing team which is responsible for manufacturing all commercial and clinical materials produced in the multi-product API facility in Frederick, MD.

* This position schedules all routine and non-routine activities that take place within the Manufacturing areas or that involve manufacturing equipment.

* This position interfaces with the following departments: Manufacturing, Facilities, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Science and Technology, Metrology, QA and QC.

* Anticipate potential issues and conflicts and present options for resolution to functional management in a clear and concise manner.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with department leads and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication of production plans and issues.

* Partner with line management in prioritizing projects and resources to meet business goals, applying sound business concepts and techniques as they relate to human resource management.

* Capacity modeling and planning for FMC in coordination with site PMO, corporate and site Supply Chain.

* Coordinating raw material requirements and bulk drug substance supply with site Supply Chain. Other duties as assigned or identified

Qualifications

Requirements:

 

Knowledge:

* General knowledge of biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes and unit operations

* Experienced in use of commercially available scheduling software and manufacturing execution systems

* Experienced in resource and capacity modeling applications

* General knowledge of project management concepts and tools

* Thorough understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning specifically SAP (inventory and production planning functions)

* Understanding of pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practices preferred

 

Problem Solving:

* Ability to understand complex scheduling constraints and relationships to identify solutions to conflicts

* Ability to troubleshoot issues regarding user entered modeling and scheduling parameters

* Anticipate potential issues and conflicts and present options for resolution to functional management in a clear and concise manner.

* Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of practical problems

* Ability to apply common sense understanding and knowledge of when to stop and seek input and approval from management

* Limited supervision and minimal instructions needed on routine work.

* Poor communication or erroneous decisions/ recommendations would normally result in critical delays and modifications to projects or operations; cause substantial expenditure of time, human resources, and funds; and jeopardize future business activity.

* Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and effective presentation skills.

* Contacts are frequent with individuals representing other departments, and/or representing outside organizations

Education/ Years of Experience:

* B.S./B.A./M.B.A. in business, engineering, biological sciences, physical sciences, or equivalent field of study.

* 5-10 years in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or industrial manufacturing
