Manufacturing/Production Supervisor

As a division of Zimmer,  Zimmer Surgical develops, manufactures and markets surgical products that support Zimmer Reconstructive, Spine, Dental and Trauma product systems in the operating room environment, with a focus on blood management, surgical wound site management, pain management and patient management products. Among its products are bone cement used by orthopaedic surgeons to securely fix implants to patient bones, the market-leading Zimmer A.T.S.® Automatic Tourniquet Systems family of  products, wound debridement systems, traction equipment, orthopaedic power equipment and orthopaedic softgoods. Zimmer Surgical is headquartered in Dover, Ohio.

DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for day-to-day supervision of employees. Must maintain all time, attendance, and disciplinary action records for each direct report in a timely manner.
Active involvement and commitment in the Zimmer Quality Improvement Process.
Must have a thorough knowledge of Company products, processes, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
Must be able to communicate appropriately, written and oral forms, with all levels of management. Must be able to give oral presentations in employee training situations and represent the company at external functions. Must also keep the respective Manufacturing Manager informed of all significant developments concerning the operation.
Must be able to train employees in the areas of G.M.P., E.H.S., and Quality Systems.
Responsible for production schedules and posting of daily work assignments based upon production needs and individual strengths. Must provide "hands-on" product process support for all reports on a daily basis. This individual should be the driver behind product and process improvements.
Individual is responsible for maintaining accurate raw material, component, and finished goods inventories. This will be accomplished by utilizing planning tools, observation, and direct communication with Planning.
Responsible for controlling inventory and scheduling the purchase of manufacturing tools and supplies/stores.
THIS IS A 2ND SHIFT POSITION -- hours are 3 p.m. -- 11 p.m.

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in a management/technical field required
Minmum of 3 to 5 years of supervision in a manufacturing environment with experience in injection molding and thermoplastics strongly preferred
Experience in a regulated environment preferred
Experience in a union environment preferred
LEAN certification and/or Six Sigma certification preferred
Ability to communicate with other department supervisors to solve production problems and keep product flowing.
Knowledge of the company products, a well as basic knowledge of machines and machine shop practice. Ability to lead and communicate with subordinates in a friendly manner and yet retain proper supervisory authority.
Commitment to a participative management style is a must in supporting Zimmer's QIP.
Good working knowledge of equipment, machines, and related manufacturing process.
Experience in supervising hourly personnel.
Trained in JIT and participative management techniques.
