We are highly selective in our recruitment process and aim to filter at interview level in order to ensure recruitment of only the most worthy candidates. The PTDP begins with a 2 month, full time, intensive course establishing the essential foundations required to become a self-employed trader, with Marex Spectron providing the seed capital and intraday leverage necessary to operate as a professional trader, with successful candidates contracted to trade solely through Marex. There is no monetary commitment required by trainees for the training; however, it is necessary that applicants are financially self-sufficient and able to support themselves (living costs, rent, travel etc) during the extended development period.
The Professional Trader Development Programme
The initial Foundation Phase consists of the following:
- Introduction to Micro/Macroeconomics and their application to trading.
- Introduction to the mechanics of markets and the factors that drive them.
- Introduction to Technical Analysis and its application to developing a trading strategy
- The psychology of trading, and performance coaching
- Discovering the 'Mechanics of the Trade'
- Understanding Risk: Developing a risk management and money management strategy
- Introduction to front end trading systems and technical charting packages
The continued development phase includes the following:
- Performance coaching and mentoring from experienced market participants
- Structured simulator trading to prepare candidates for the live trading environment
- Progression to the live trading environment
Candidate Profile
To secure one of the limited places on our next PTDP, candidates will need to demonstrate the following:
- An understanding of the concept of risk, and the associated concept of “Risk vs. Reward” in the context of trading financial markets
- Discipline and the capability to work within predefined parameters consistently
- Ability to make decisions with a high pressure environment
- A competitive and entrepreneurial spirit
- That you are proactive in seeking out unconventional opportunities, with the capability to adapt to changing circumstances with assertion
- Self-motivation in achieving challenging goals and targets. (eg. Sports, Academic, Business)
- Ability to work both independently and within a team to achieve defined learning objectives
- Ability to communicate effectively, with strong English language skills.
