Margin, Valuations & Pricing Operations – Client Valuations, Analyst / Associate (Japanese speaker) recruitment
Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation.
Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls, and help to specify the systems that deliver accuracy, timeliness and integrity to our business.
BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW
The Client Valuations team has staff located in Jersey City, London, Salt Lake City, Tokyo and Singapore who are responsible for providing accurate and timely valuations generated by our trading desks to clients for their derivative portfolios, cash securities and structured notes across the majority of Franchise and Prime Brokerage businesses. These valuations are written reports of instruments issued or traded with Goldman Sachs and they are used for a variety of reasons including for use in preparing their public financial statements and disclosures, calculating NAV calculation, financial reporting, portfolio reconciliation or internal risk management purposes. Valuations may be distributed to clients on a rolling basis (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.), or for a specific valuation date in the past. Goldman Sachs valuations policy dictates that valuations can only be provided for securities that are underwritten/issued by, or traded with Goldman Sachs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The team has a rare opportunity to support products and business ranging from foreign exchange, commodities, credit, Equity, Interest Rates, Repo, Insurance/Pensions and bespoke structured derivatives and arrangements. The team manages a wide range of complex processes, with members developing skills and competencies around derivative security products and their respective business areas, technology flows and regulations.
The candidate will be responsible for:
• Working closely with Sales, Trading, Compliance, and Controllers to provide accurate and appropriate service to our external clients in a timely manner, while following the standards set in the firmwide Valuations policy
• Seeking opportunities to enhance the efficiencies and controls by working with the mentioned parties in the region and globally.
• Participating in the wider organization for Operational improvement, cross-functional initiatives and support of new businesses.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
MANDATORY
• 2 Years experience in international brokering operations and compliance
• Experience communicating with salespeople, legal / compliance officers and clients’ back office
• Proficiency with Excel and comfortable learning multiple systems
• Fluent in written and spoken Japanese
PREFERRED
• Degree qualified
• Ability to multi-task work under pressure
• Ability to identify pressure points offer new ideas to tackle problem
• Other Asian languages a strong plus
