Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics is currently seeking a talented Marine Terminal Supervisor for our Port of Baltimore, MD location.
As a Marine Terminal Supervisor for Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics, you will have responsibility to oversee daily terminal operations including but not limited rail unloading, truck receiving and delivery, cargo washing, packaging, and barge loading operations. You will be a contact for customer inquiries, appointments, and problem solving/ resolution on a daily basis. You will also be responsible to ensure seamless, efficient and complete communication between operations, customer care, stevedore and customers in matters related to terminal operations.
Duties:
- Ensure Terminal policies and directives are followed by all internal and external customers.
- Maintain effective communication with all divisions.
- Develop quality initiatives for terminal operations and customer care.
- Act within agreed financial budget limits.
- Maintaining a constructive environment in which terminal and labor perform as a team.
- Updating and managing terminal systems and equipment.
- Effectively manage vendors’ performance and invoicing.
- Liaise with stevedores and operations regarding vessel operations.
- Provide training regarding administrative responsibilities during receiving/delivery process.
- Monitor, develop and maintain the standards and procedures used to handle cargo.
- Initiate corrective actions when quality requirements are not met.
- Ensuring third party quotes are completed and invoiced accordingly.
- Troubleshoot cargo issues during receiving/delivery process and during vessel operations.
- Maintain a relationship with the operations department and stevedore to improve production.
Competence Requirements:
- 2 years marine terminal/vessel experience
- Vessel and terminal operational knowledge
- Direct labor management and negotiating skills
- Decision making skills
- Customer centered/focused
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Handle multiple priorities in a change oriented environment
- Initiative and strategic thinking
- Present ideas in a clear and articulate manner
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Ability to motivate others through strong inter-personal and leadership skills
