Market & Competitive Intelligence Research Director, Manufacturing and CPG Job in Boston, Massachusetts Us
Join the world's preeminent research and consulting firm in the field of market and competitive intelligence ("CI") as a Research Director to lead CI projects through the full project life cycle within the Manufacturing and CPG in the Boston office. This person will report directly to the head of the practice and manage ongoing client relationships and deliverables throughout each project. Clients are generally large companies seeking astute insights into their dynamic competitive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Planning and Managing CI Projects
- Oversee intelligence collection and analysis activities of a team of research analysts
- Establishing research methodology and designing a format for data gathering and ensure all intelligence gathering conforms to legal and ethical guidelines
- Managing the timelines of multiple projects
- Documenting client correspondence and deliverables
- Presenting CI analysis and conclusions to clients, utilizing overall industry knowledge on time and on budget
- Create compelling written documents
- Writing RFP’s
- Identify and grow new research opportunities with existing clients
- Managing all key interactions with our clients, project status and results
- Respond to client needs as those needs change over the course of the projects
- Teaching, guiding and mentoring analysts, hands on when necessary
Skills and Abilities
- An MBA degree or equivalent experience
- An engineering degree is highly desireable
- 4+ years experience in leading research or consulting projects and supervising professional staff
- The ability to integrate secondary and primary information into an insightful presentation
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: manufacturing, distribution, retail, consumer goods, medical devices, food
- Effective motivational skills
- The ability to understand and act on customer needs
- A high level of productivity to meet deadline challenges
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated relationship management skills at executive levels
- A professional presence and effective presentation skills
- A proven ability to lead and influence a project team
