Market Credit Officer
Market Credit Officers are a decentralized credit partner working closely with Relationship Managers and Business Loan Centers. Market CO's will function as a part of select and strategic markets while reporting directly to Credit Operations. Primary responsibilities are focused on supporting Relationship Managers in the acquisition of new credit (typically $1,000M) for prospects and existing customers when supported by a combination of the size of the relationship opportunity, complexity of credit, and credit skill set of the RM. Additionally, Market Credit Officers will; 1) Directly service an assigned portfolio of large or complex temporarily impaired (ORR 7 or 8) "stay" strategy customers not otherwise serviced by the RM or Managed Assets, and 2) Advise RMs as needed for ORR 7 relationships retained by the field. Key Roles Responsibilities · Joint customer calling and targeted prospecting with RMs to assist with evaluation of new credit opportunities. Demonstrate Chase lending is "local" when critical to a deal. · Assist RMs with receipt, review, and preliminary analysis of financial information to identify and address relevant issues. · Help frame initial credit structure, loan amount, and product recommendation to assist with preflight call activities and submission of the request to the Business Loan Center(s). · Advocate a disciplined credit risk culture, support prudent risk taking, and demonstrate support of policy initiatives designed to stimulate lending. · Partner with RMs and local market management to be an advocate for geographically unique credit product opportunities which represent sound lending initiatives. · Assist RM with communication presentation of BLC credit approval to the customer. Provide immediate face to face response to any customer questions, and help overcome any objections to terms and conditions. · Where needed and appropriate to acquire new business, use assigned lending authority to approve immaterial or incidental changes to the terms, conditions, and loan amount approved by the Credit Approval Officer(s) in the Business Loan Center. · Partner with RMs, Market Management, and BLC to improve approval rate, booking rate, and speed to decision through effective loan sponsorship, improved complete package submission, and proactive and timely communication. o Participation in BLC preflight calls for assigned market(s) o Participation in market and regional pipeline management calls. · Maintain regular contact with customers which leveraged MCO process via joint calling with RMs. Relationship Servicing ORR 7 8 - Key Roles Responsibilities · Direct management and servicing responsibilities of temporarily impaired (ORR 7 or 8), stay strategy customers. Typically representing exposure $1,000M for strategic metro markets; $500M all other. o Maintain regular contact with Borrowers. Establish repayment plans and restructure loans considered appropriate to each Borrower's circumstances. o Ongoing receipt, review, and analysis of financial information to track performance and validation of "stay or exit" strategy for assigned portfolio. o Accountable for deposit risk issues, and daily decision of overdrafts for customers in assigned portfolio. o Assess collateral adequacy coverage; updating valuations as appropriate; and add collateral when warranted and obtainable. o Minimize credit and collateral exceptions and resolve loan agreement covenant defaults. o Provide status updates and present quarterly Problem Credit Reports (PCRs) to the Market and Regional Risk Manager on credits in assigned portfolio. · Advise RMs on management of ORR 7 relationships serviced by the field.
