I would like to hear from candidates with the following:
University degree in a quantitative subject (eg Maths, Physics, Statistics) with some exposure to finance, or in Finance/Economics, with a solid quantitative background
At least 3 years professional experience acquired in a major financial institution and including direct exposure to the financial markets as dealer, financial risk manager or similar
- Proven knowledge of financial instruments and markets
- Solid knowledge of applied numerical mathematics and valuation techniques, preferably evidenced by hands-on experience in pricing and valuation
- Expert Excel user, ideally with knowledge of SQL and of VBA or another programming language
- Knowledge banking IT applications in particular FinanceKit or similar, and market price service providers, such as Bloomberg and Reuters
The Market Data Management Officer reports to the Market Data Management team leader who reports to the Head of Division.
The role:
To provide business support to market data users by:
- Collecting, calculating or estimating market data used for the execution and administration of structured borrowing and derivatives transactions, treasury transactions, loans and other financial operations of the Bank
- Providing an independent opinion on the validity, accuracy and reliability of market data
- Developing and running valuation tools in relation to Treasury and/or Borrowing derivatives transactions
- Assisting end-users in accessing and interpreting market data and resulting securities valuations on a daily basis, and ensuring the market data and resulting valuations are accurate, reliable and correct.
Accountabilities
- Act as first-line contact to users in all market data related matters, support users to access and to interpret market data correctly
- Set up market data definitions and automatic feeds in FinanceKit (FK), the Bank's central repository for market data
- Collect market data used for the execution and administration of structured borrowing and derivatives transactions, treasury transactions and other financial operations of the Bank
- Calculate derived data out of observed market data or historical data series (forwards, extrapolations, volatilities, correlations), if needed give substantiated estimations
- Ensure adequate models are selected for the valuation of financial transactions
- Execute periodic valuation routines to said financial transactions and address potential modelisation issues with valuation tool provider Numerix
- Resolve potential internal and/or external valuation discrepancies (within the context of 4 eyes principle)
- Ensure quality of newly incoming and of stored market data
- Document FK related incidents and follow them up through to resolution
- Coordinate with end users and IT's technical FK Support Team the treatment of work requests of technical nature
- Ensure execution and results validation of FK and market data activities for end-of-period accounting treatment
- Prepare IT business cases and carry through small IT projects under the supervision of the Team Leader in conjunction with users and IT
- Prepare and maintain functional and procedural documentation related to configurations in FK and to collection of market data items
- Participate in the implementation and testing of new FK versions, co-ordinate user implications
- Participate in all transversal tasks of the Division for instrument configurations, including incidents follow-up, FK Loans implementation, training, procedures update
- Give advice to users about access and correct interpretation of market data available in our systems and about ways to calculate or estimate data not directly observable
- Give an independent opinion on the validity of critical market data
- Assist the Market Data Management leader in managing and carrying through to completion projects or other initiatives with a view to providing the market data related services requested by the users or improving market data quality.
- Assist the team leader in the implementation and application of policies and guidelines applicable to Market Data Management as established in the Market Data Configuration Guidelines ('MDCG').
