Chi-X is a financial markets innovator and has recently launched its latest market in Australia.
An opportunity has arisen to join the Market Operations team based in Sydney that will enable the right candidate to be part of a company driving innovation in financial markets around the world and make their mark in this small, dynamic and evolving team.
The primary function of the Market Operations team is to ensure that the market operates in a fair and orderly way and to provide outstanding customer support. You will be joining a small, highly professional team and your experience dealing with customers in a fast paced environment will help you succeed in this role.
Position Summary
This is a multi-faceted position comprising the following:
- Market Control functions, which includes ensuring that the market is operating effectively in accordance with the market rules, daily operational checks and market monitoring;
- Client Support - performing the Chi-X customer support function including involvement in the participant on-boarding process, responding to technical and product enquiries;
- Product and Account Management - assisting with the definition and prioritisation of product enhancements, testing and upgrade timetables plus managing a number of client relationships;
- Business Process Definition/Improvement – defining and implementing enhancements to operational processes and procedures.
- Reporting and Business Analysis – using a business intelligence tool to undertake data analysis and produce reports.
The successful candidate will be a key member of a small, dynamic operations team. The role involves frequent communication with a variety of stakeholders, including trading participants, vendor service providers and regulators.
Key Requirements
It is essential that the successful candidate has a thorough knowledge of financial services and financial market operations and has a commitment to keeping abreast of changes in the industry. To be considered for this role you will also need the following skills:
- Experience in an operations, or client service capacity at a stockbroker or market operator
- Familiarity with trading strategies and trading operations
- Broad IT skills including a working knowledge of common OMS/EMS platforms and industry standards such as the FIX protocol
- Experience interacting with software development teams would be desirable
- Strong Microsoft Office skills and an analytical background using Excel is desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work autonomously with confidence and assertiveness
- Able to work under pressure and to tight timelines
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise.
