Market Risk Analyst at a leading Energy Major – London – £45,000 to £50,000 per annum recruitment

The successful Senior Analyst will join the team responsible for producing and reviewing risk analysis, developing risk measurement tools and defining the energy market risk governance framework, reporting directly into the Portfolio Market Risk Manager.

The successful Senior Analyst will be expected to:

-Lead the implementation of risk indicators and tools developed by Portfolio Market Risk for use in other teams in Energy Market Credit Risk.

-Manage the maintenance and improvement of tools and data efficiency within Energy Market Credit Risk.

-Develop and maintain excellent relationships with the Operational Market Risk team in order to respond efficiently and effectively with respect to the implementation of risk tools/indicators and maintaining the integrity of the daily and monthly reporting processes.

-Assist the model validation process by providing expert input into implementation impact assessment.

The successful analyst will use their highly developed numerical and analytical skills to solve complex problems that arise while directing the day-to-day workload of the work stream.

They will also be expected to use, where appropriate, their ability to influence behaviour and change opinions, and to use strong managerial skills to help develop the analysts on their team.

Essential requirements for a Principal Analyst:

-Strong Academic background with a degree (or equivalent) in a numerate subject such as Mathematics, Finance or Economics.

-Extensive knowledge of the energy sector and/or experience of another professional industry in a risk function.

-Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.

-Strong IT skills (Spreadsheets Databases)
