The Massachusetts Teachers Association is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Marketing Assistant in MTA Benefits. The Marketing Assistant is responsible for supporting MTA Benefits (MTAB) marketing objectives and initiatives, monitoring their effectiveness and advancing MTAB’s social media presence to build relationships with members and leaders.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist with the preparation of all marketing materials and communications.
Maintain broad familiarity with forms of social media including Facebook, Twitter, blogs, YouTube, and other sources of marketing media.
Experience with tracking programs to monitor web and e-commerce statistics for all marketing campaigns and prepare reports for management.
Maintain a thorough understanding of all member benefit programs and discounts.
Understand the mission of MTA, MTAB and the needs of members.
Answer the telephone; respond to telephone calls, e-mail and U.S. mail requests for information in a timely manner; retrieve messages from Member Benefits and general company mailboxes and route inquiries to proper MTAB or MTA personnel.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with the production of MTAB publications, e-news and marketing materials.
Assist with the coordination of the Advantage, Member Benefits Page and MTA Today advertising.
Maintain annual marketing calendar.
Prepare reports on web and e-mail activity based on marketing initiatives.
Monitor website content to ensure it is current and well utilized by members.
Monitor MTAB and MTA Facebook and Twitter accounts and post content/responses as necessary.
Write copy for website and other marketing materials.
Proof all materials.
Be aware of cutting-edge technologies for new marketing opportunities.
Make sure website pages and online forms are functioning properly and are user-friendly.
Interface with partners to keep their information on MTAB’s site fresh.
Coordinate website updates with IT staff.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma (college degree preferred, with a concentration in marketing)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two (2) to four (4) years related marketing experience.
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Proficiency with all forms of social media.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Access and basic HTML.
Refined time management, planning and organization skills.
Ability to prioritize work and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Exhibits a positive, cooperative attitude; a team player who can work well alone or in a group.
Ability to meet short deadlines.
Comfortable taking the initiative to resolve issues and ability to identify solutions for problems or errors.
High energy level and ability to successfully handle rapid change.
Commitment to organizational values.
Self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when communicating with members orally, in writing or in face-to-face conversation.
