Taiyo Pacific Partners (the Firm) manages approximately $2.0 billion of long-only funds publicly-traded equities through four funds for Japan - each having a focus area of mid-cap, small cap or micro-cap companies, as well as a fourth All-Cap Japan fund. The firm’s owners have also recently seeded a long-only fund for Indian public equities and continue to look at interesting market opportunities. The firm is seeking a Marketing Associate based in the firm’s Kirkland, Washington Offices.
The Role:
The Marketing Associate will be part of the Finance Accounting team at the Firm and work closely with members of Finance Accounting on Fund and due diligence data as well as work closely with the Firm’s owners, and other senior firm personnel on many marketing and investor related matters.
Position Responsibilities
• Develop an understanding of the firm’s investment products offered to investors
• Develop an understanding of the key aspects of each fund, through close interaction with the Finance Accounting team
• Assist the CFO in setting up a central database of due diligence materials and ensuring that this data site is updated monthly such that due diligence materials can be delivered to investors expeditiously, as requested
• Maintain consultant and potential investor websites and databases with updated performance numbers each month
• Liase with various industry consultants to ensure that they have relevant information on the Firm’s products and be available to consultants to respond to any special requests
• Develop an understanding of various industry consultants to see if they actively cover the Firm’s strategies for their clients; update the Firm’s owners and principals of same (thus ensuring that data is delivered to those groups who use it effectively to promote the Firm’s product and strategy)
• Maintain both investor and potential investor contact information in Firm’s database and help maintain up-to-date meeting notes following various meetings with investors and potential investors
• Assist in submitting ad-hoc due diligence requests from potential investors
• Liase with other teams within the Firm who need various data from Finance for marketing purposes
• Ensure that investor deliverables (mainly the monthly cap statements) are delivered timely
• Serve as a back-up to the Finance team for daily performance reporting to ensure that process is completed timely
• Work with firm’s owners, Partners and other team members on developing/updating various marketing collateral, quarterly investor reports and all marketing related efforts
• Work with Risk/Compliance on investor closing (subscription) documents and other investor related efforts
Position Requirements
- 3 to 4 years of experience working in the financial services industry or having audited clients in the financial services industry while in public accounting
- Knowledge of the industry is a pre-requisite – please do not apply if you don’t have this pre-requisite; knowledge about Limited Partnership structures is a plus but not required
- Strong quantitative background and analytical skills
- Accounting or Finance degree preferred
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and with ability to manage several projects at once and deliver under deadlines
- Advanced Excel skills and spreadsheet building expertise as well as PowerPoint skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written); English fluency required

- Self-motivated
Reporting
Day-to-day reporting to the CFO while providing assistance as required to all senior members of the firm on various investor/marketing communications efforts

• Base compensation commensurate with industry standards based on the individual’s experience

• Company has a 401k plan. Employees are eligible to participate after completing their first anniversary with the firm. Discretionary profit share to this plan is made by the firm when possible.
