Kennesaw State University seeks Marketing/Communication Specialist (Communications Professional III)

The Marketing/Communication Specialist is responsible for effectively leading teams in the development and successful execution of a full range of marketing materials and services including: brochures, magazines, advertisements, posters, catalogs and event management. The specialist will be responsible for managing marketing initiatives as well as overseeing the flow of production and day-to-day activities. The specialist will play a key role managing advertising and acting as the primary point of contact for units seeking advertising services, including creative development, messaging, plan development and ad placement. He/she will work collaboratively with university clients to achieve project objectives, milestones and deliverables. In addition, the specialist will work with the marketing team to develop comprehensive marketing/branding projects in support of the university's strategic goals. As an integral part of the marketing team, the candidate should be a strategic and tactical thinker who works to translate business goals and objectives into actionable marketing results.

Job Responsibilities and Account abilities:

Develop and maintain strong partnerships with internal customers and/or key project stakeholders, understanding key stakeholder business strategies, objectives, and project expectations;
Collaborate with college and departmental officials throughout the university to support their marketing/creative efforts;

Manage project assignments, using appropriate internal and external resources (including, but not limited to, print vendors, ad agencies, freelancers, and PR/marketing firms); and
Plan and manage project communications, continuously monitoring project status, proactively managing changes, and effectively communicating on a regular basis with key stakeholders, including senior management.  

Minimum qualifications:  Bachelor's degree in related field and 4 years experience in a Journalism or Public Relations background.    

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 5-8 years marketing, communications, project management or related experience strongly preferred; Solid writing, speaking and presentation skills;
Ability to professionally interact with all levels of management;  Strong interpersonal and communication skills;  Ability to engage and influence team(s) without direct authority; Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;  Ability to present and explain information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and fosters understanding; and
Excellent computer skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
