Marketing Director Job in Phoenix, Arizona US
Marketing Director
Grande Sports is seeking an experienced Marketing Director to join their team in Casa Grande, AZ.
Passion. Dedication. Drive. All words one would use when describing players on a highly successful sports team. They are also words we use to describe the desired characteristics in our new Marketing Manager for Grande Sports.
Job Summary:
The unique marketing position will provide the right person an opportunity of a lifetime. We’re looking for an individual that wants to be hands-on, close to the business and innovative with their marketing strategies. It’s not your boring ol’ agency job, sports marketing, or public relations job. One minute you find yourself on the soccer fields interacting with the players, and then next in the office drumming up press for the academy. You’ll use every means of social media possible to communicate with soccer youth around the country. You’ll provide the Business Development team and coaches with materials they need to recruit student athletes such as videos, brochures, web applications, and more. You’ll create marketing strategies online and offline to target potential recruits and their parents. You’ll have the opportunity to interact with the current student-athlete residents and leverage their backgrounds to find more soccer extraordinaires just like them.
A Little Background:
Grande Sports is made of two entities: Grande Sports World and Grande Sports Academy. Grande Sports World is an internationally renowned $20 million dollar training facility located just 45 minutes from Phoenix, AZ, welcoming some of the best soccer athletes from around the world at all levels for the best training, conditioning and tournament play. Grande Sports Academy is a full-time residential academy focused on developing the best soccer talent and enabling young athletes to become outstanding soccer players. Its home to the Real Salt Lake Arizona Academy teams and the only residency program in the United States affiliated with a MLS team.
Adjacent to the entire facility is Francisco Grande Hotel and Golf Resort. This oasis in the Arizona desert is an ideal location for vacation getaways, retreats, weddings or to house the visiting teams to Grande Sports World. This accommodates all athletes, teams and you will work with the departments as it is an integral part of the operation. Additionally, all staff, including you, are employees under this entity.
What you can expect:
This is NOT a position for someone not looking to be challenged or hands on. You’ll be in the thick of it, 24/7: attending games, speaking with coaches, getting to know the student-athletes, interacting with visiting coaches and teams, working closely with the Business Development team and Recruiters, speaking with media, working with marketing vendors and much more. It’s a must that you know every aspect of the business so you can turn around and market it like no other. Your fresh ideas, innovative thinking and passion for the sport will serve you well within this team.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Refining, executing and managing the entire social media strategy for Grand Sports including videos, blogs, newsletters, magazines and content for the websites.
- Creating collateral materials to be used by Business Development, Sales and Recruiting individuals that will inform and educate parents and students about the Academy.
- Finding and as many PR opportunities as possible for the Academy and Grande Sports owning the corporate communications strategy from development to execution.
- Building, planning and executing a multi-platform marketing strategy for both the Academy (recruiting students for the school years) and the training facility overall (finding teams to train, camp and compete at the facility).
- Contributing to and managing the content and usability of the website for lead generation, education and branding.
- Owning the Brand; managing the look and feel of the marketing and its messages (words, pictures, logos, colors, etc.)
- Finding additional ways to generate revenue for the business and coordinating the marketing strategies needed to fulfill them.
- Developing a team of interns to capture and share the true essence of our business as we grow into additional sport academies such as lacrosse and golf.
- Interviewing kids and telling the story of the academy through their eyes with videos.
Skills you’ll need to succeed:
- Comfortable with the technical aspects of blogging, emailing, making videos and using social media like Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, etc.
- Organized and able to handle multiple projects and requests.
- Outstanding communication skills as you’ll have to communicate with management individuals that aren’t local to you and can’t be face to face with at all times.
- The patience and vision to prioritize the strategies and tactics most important to the business (and generating revenue).
- No fear - meaning you’re willing to dig in and try your hand at anything; creating videos, using new technology, inventing a new tool, or whatever it may be.
- If you don’t know how to create a graph using Excel, build a PowerPoint presentation with slide transitions and animations, or put a header and footer into a word document, then this isn’t the job for you as these actions in Microsoft Office should be second nature to you.
- The ability to think like kid but act like a parent- often the student-athletes are the first to find out about us, but it’s the parents that decide to send their kid to the Academy. You need to be able to market to BOTH of them.
Please note: This is NOT a coaching position.
